apart of the meet cute: gone wrong series, click here for more!
prompt: meeting at a holiday resort, both with friends or family tagging along
pairing: bakugou katsuki x reader
words: 5.4k
warnings: enemies to lovers, strangers to lovers, spin the bottle, marijuana mentioned, alcohol, drunk sex, begging
It's everything you thought it'd be and more. The sun shines on you in a bright gleam that warms your skin. Your plans had finally made it out of the group chat! This was going to be the best vacation ever. Your sandals slap against the concrete as you trod to your friends with your luggage.
"Hey! Can you guys believe this? It's so beautiful!"
Ayami beams, her short hair bouncing as she nods eagerly, "I can already feel myself re-energizing! All this nature and ocean—oh, it's going to be wonderful!"
Ryoka's hand slips around her girlfriend's waist with a relaxed smile. "Hell yeah. We should go ahead and check-in."
"Already done! No need to thank me," Natsumi brags as she flings the dark oak door open, "had to do it since you guys were taking your sweet time getting out of the car!"
Your cheeks hurt from how much you're smiling. You must've done something heroic in your past life, maybe saving a war-torn city, to have this warm feeling fluttering in your chest. The resort is made better with your friend's banter and complimentary slippers that sink into plush carpet.
An attendant explains things in a blur, yet your eyes are locked onto the glittering ripples of water that peek through a window. The pool is on the first floor, she says. And don't forget to ____, you ignore. Soon enough, all four of you are dashing to claim a spot on white resin lounge chairs. It feels like a dream when your manicured toes glisten under the hot summer air. It becomes more like a fairy tale when your wandering eyes land on something interesting.
He's hot. Scratch that; he's more than hot! Lecherous eyes start at sopping blonde hair pushed back by muscled biceps and veiny forearms. The way the water rolls down his back is absolutely sinful. Even his abs flex as he cockily smirks, pushing back against his red-headed friend during their game of roughhousing.
Not only is he easy on the eyes, but he looks like he fucks, which is the perfect maraschino cherry on top. You could bite into him, and it'd be sugary sweet as the sticky juice runs red down your jugular. Yeah, you could eat him alive and he'd love it. Confidence thrums through you, and you know your time is now. At the same time, he stands casually in the water, merely observing and completely unaware.
You slip in effortlessly and unnoticed, lurking like a shark behind him as you plan your words before making yourself known.
"Hey," you chirp, hands wading in the water.
You expect him to turn to you with a sly smile; maybe he'd grow close and lean on the pool edge as he asked for your name and whether you were single. Only he didn't do any of that. His eyes scan you like you're a drab beige wall, and then he has the nerve to shrug you off.
"Hey."
It's awkward. It's tense. It's very unexpected.
"What's your–"
"I don't need a drink right now," he dismisses with a casual wave.
It actually stuns you into silence. Your mouth drops open and then closes, and then opens again, "I-I'm not a worker! Do workers wear bikinis where you're from?"
The man sneers at your reaction and finally turns to face you. He's taller, broader, and you wish he wasn't so fine because he was turning out to be such a dick. You stand up straighter, squaring your shoulders to stare frustratedly into his eyes.
"No, but I don't bother paying attention to extras when I'm trying to relax," and lewd eyes dip down to your cleavage, "but maybe I can spare you some time."
"An extra!? Oh, fuck you!"
It comes out harshly, and your bottom lip droops as you stare at him: "I just came by to introduce myself, but never mind. I'm leaving."
"Then introduce yourself, or did I scare ya' off?"
You've never met a man so bold. A man with the audacity to call you an extra and still so obviously commit your curves to memory. Introductions come out in a stutter from you with warm cheeks, "and what's your name, so I can report your behavior with the front desk."
"It's Bakugou," he grunts. "Be my guest."
"I will," you challenge.
"How about I report you for harassment, hah?"
"You insulted me first!"
Bakugou shrugs with a smirk. It irritates you beyond belief to see his smug little face. The sun burns too bright and hot on you two, firing you up and encouraging you to storm out of the pool. Bakugou takes the opportunity to leer at your ass as you crawl out the side, wet swim skirt sticking to your curves and making him tug his bottom lip between his teeth.
"Damn," he grunts as you prissily walk off.
Perhaps he judged you too harshly. But then he thought about it, and you just seemed like a spoiled brat. A pretty one but a brat nonetheless. He didn't take things like that. He reassures himself under his breath, but his thoughts know what he's really thinking about: sliding those wet bikini bottoms off you and spreading your legs. It would be all for him, too. You did approach him first.
You, however, collect your things in a huff. Your move to the other end of the pool may have been petty, but you don't care. Things had to be thought through. Was it worth actually pursuing this sexy asshole guy? As you type a pro-con list into your phone, Ryoka pats your shoulder, "Are you planning on missing the game for your phone?"
The exercise will do you some good. After squeezing your friend's hand and promising to return after you change, you opt to release your frustrations on a good game of volleyball.
After a bit, it's even hotter and you've only gotten sexier. It's important to note as Bakugou stares at you from the sidelines. Sure, you were prissy, but your body was killer, and the snarl escaping you every time you spiked the ball sent wrecking balls of fantasy into his mind. You were a spitfire, and Bakugou tries to swallow the flush when you look at him in an intense adrenaline haze.
A block. A quick run to the side for a spike. Light cheering. This was the sweet escape you needed, giving you just enough space to let out your blood thirst. If you had fangs, then you'd be chomping at everyone's face! You were in the groove. Your eyes pass over him easily. And then you meet again.
Parted, pink lips with beads of sweat on your upper lip. Your hair falls messily, framing your face with sticky strands as your dark eyes pierce Bakugou's. For a minute, neither of you seems to exist in this reality. You both stay in this limbo for a second longer than you should before your head snaps forward to bump an incoming ball. Bakugou’s frozen to the core with genuine butterflies in his stomach. He doesn't even think this has ever happened to him before, or even that it ever would.
A whistle is blown, and you’re cheering with your team. It always felt good to win. It was even better when you knew you had eyes on you.
"Good game, good game! Yeah, you did amazing, Ayami…" You towel off as you relish in the glow of your success. It wasn't all due to you, but you were being a bit of a try-hard.
You don't even notice how Bakugou makes his way through the crowd. How his lips curl into a frown as someone bumps into him, and how he taps your shoulder with a gruff, "Hey."
Your head turns with hair that cracks like a whip. Obviously, you recognize him immediately. You're not happy.
"Hey," you mutter, toweling off and ready to escape. "Nice seeing you."
"Wait a minute," Bakugou's hand curls around your wrist, and you're so irritated to feel heat rush through you at seeing the sinewy muscle move. "Lemme talk to you."
"I gotta get in the shower. So, no."
"You're being stubborn. I'm sorry for earlier," he huffs with eyes that lack the confidence to look straight at you. "Let me buy you a soda or somethin'."
"What makes you think I want a soda from you, an extra?"
He almost wants to shout in your face, but he knows there's no way around that. Bakugou mumbles about not meaning it while kicking at the ground, and your posture stays stiff. It happens so quickly you almost miss it, but you catch a glimpse of a smile on his lips.
"What's so funny?! You're a real jerk, laughing and everything when you insulted me and–"
"You're all defensive at being called an extra. It's cute."
"I have a name," you nearly stomp your foot in exasperation despite the flush crawling up your skin.
"I forgot. You stuttered it out last time," he provokes calmly with a tilt of his head. Really, he just wants to hear that pretty name on your lips again.
You try to tell yourself that there's no time to think about the compliment that flies and waves in the air like a kite. You introduce yourself calmly, emphasizing the syllables and ensuring he gets it.
Bakugou repeats your name so slowly. So pointedly, velvety tongue and eyes narrowing. You could imagine him whispering it into your neck as strong hips hump to meet yours. Maybe in the morning, with a kiss on the cheek and the taste of coffee on your tongue. He puts so much care into repeating your name that you almost cave when he asks if you want to get smoothies together.
You're a strong, independent woman. That and, well, his pissed-off face was sexy. Your glossy lips smirk at him as you cock your hip, "Sorry, I'm getting drinks with friends. I'll catch you later, though, yeah?"
"...Alright, yeah."
The way you ditch him in the dust leaves him half-chubbed in his shorts. God, you were such a cock tease. If only he could kiss you and show you what you're missing out on by playing cat and mouse. Thick fingers adjust his shorts, and Bakugou pushes his hair back, opting to turn back to his friends indulging in flower necklaces and drunk karaoke.
If you wanted to be the mouse, he had no problem being the cat.
Everything's clear-headed and far too boring and bright. Within time and the coaxing with your friends; you're grinning ear to ear after too many puffs of a joint and sips of cocktails. Things tilt around you, and the music sounds irresistible as you feel the rhythm lend you dance moves. Everything feels like ecstasy as you twirl in circles with your crew. The alcohol was flowing, and you were starting to have that craving for closeness as things ramped up and up.
Natsumi practically topples you over as she blushes into your face. "Come with me. I made some friends."
“Friends? What kinda friends?”
 "Don’t ask, just go. Come on, you have to! They’re cool, you really gotta meet 'em," your friend pleads as you give her a reluctant look.
"Well, okay…"
Natsumi hiccups as she escorts you a few tables over. She giggles about someone being your type, and there's a real worry that the alcohol is clouding her mind, and you’re about to have to reject a loser.
"Hey, Natsumi! I was wondering where you went!"
A yellow-toned boy speaks up, face flushed as he waves a sloppy hand from where he rests on a beachy pull-out. Next to him, Bakugou nurses a rum and coke, eyes red and cast downward towards the ground. They lazily crawl a path up to your eyes, a bit woozy but flickering with recognition.
No fucking way. Of course, he's here, and of course, he looks fantastic! You know your dress looks immaculate. There was no denying that, but Bakugou left your mouth embarrassingly dry. His white button-up was nice, but it was more about what it revealed; tanned skin and the promise of more the further you looked. As you looked down at his body, Bakugou looked up at yours.
As you sit down, you can't help but open your mouth, "What are you doing here?"
"My friends dragged me out, I could be sleeping by now."
You find yourself letting out a small laugh and turning toward him with interest. He really wasn't so bad.
“You sleep early?”
“You don’t?”
Amid it all, Bakugou and you end up squished together as the budding love story of your two friends blossoms. Every time their heated make out spills into limbs crossing over into your bubble, you grunt in frustration, inevitably scooting closer to your frenemy with a slight sway.
"She is so ridiculous," you comment on Natsumi with a slight huff. "So is your friend, by the way."
"Maybe they're made for each other," he snorts.
A beat of silence passes by as you both observe each-other. It was really more like admiring, though.
 "Why're you so standoffish? I said I was sorry, called you pretty, ‘nd you don't wanna give me another chance?"
He grumbles when he says it but looks curious as his teeth sink into his lip for a split second. You almost get lost in the motion as you unconsciously lean closer like a moth to a flame.
"I didn't peg you as someone who begged."
"Sometimes you make mistakes, hm? And I'm not begging, babe, trust me."
The conversation dies, but the tension grows larger. The way his voice dropped made your thighs squeeze together. Blood flowed south as Bakugou traced over your red lips and briefly down to your cleavage–nice, he smirked.
"Well, whatever," you pray the sip of your lychee martini gives you a long enough reprieve to think of how to coyly flirt back. "What are you doing here anyway? Vacationing? Dying of an illness and this is your last hoorah?"
"Just relaxing. What're you doing besides bein' a brat. Spending daddy's money?"
"I paid for this trip myself, actually!"
"I like a smart woman," he says, moving to brush his thumb lightly against your cheek. He pulls away just as fast, and you can smell the breeze of his icy cologne. "I paid for myself, too. Can't rely on anyone or anything!"
You see the mask slip just a second. The calm persona dropped to reveal his boyish grin and messy hair.
"Yeah, you really can't."
It was so terrible that you knew deep down he was cute. You couldn't pretend at all. Now that you're starting to know him, you're falling head first into really liking him. You weren't sure if your girls' trip vacation could withstand a passionate, whirlwind romance.
"Oh my god, you know what would be totally fucking fun right now? What if we played a game? You guys know spin the bottle! C'mon," Natsumi beams excitedly.
"I haven't done that since I was still smoking cigarettes!" Ryoka shakes her head with a laugh.
"But, come on," she gives you all a pleading look. "If we haven't done it in forever, wouldn't it be fun to do it one last time?"
Natsumi's heartfelt yet drunken rambles strike a chord within all of you. You glance at Bakugou, who doesn't reply, only shrugging in acquiescence to the group. To hell with it, you call, raising your drink in the air.
"You know what, let's go for it! You're right, Natsumi."
Bakugou eyes you curiously as you stand to hug your friend with a slight wobble in your step. You had a point. To hell with it!
Moments later, you all were knee-rubbing, stumbling idiots sitting in a circle. The more you admire Bakugou as you sit across from him, the more you're hoping the stars align with the spin of the bottle. The kiss would be innocent. Fun and games. It meant nothing. That's what you told yourself to repent for your future sins.
A bead of sweat glides down the back of your neck as the glass goes round and round. You watch as Natsumi eagerly kisses a flushed Kaminari, who is all too eager to receive it. Ryoka and Ayami are familiar but sweet. Kirishima lands a peck on you, but it's nothing crazy.
You miss the way Bakugou's eyes glitter with disappointment every time the green bottle spun past him mockingly, taunting him deviously with the promise of vodka-tinged kisses. Only then do you both find a line drawn between point A, you, and point B, him.
"Finally," Ryoka slurs out.
Suddenly, you're nervous. You're nervous as you sit up a bit more and scoot closer over the bottle containing the will of fate. He looks calm and relaxed, his eyelids lowered just enough to make him look… wanting. Knees graze the carpet as you inch closer until you both can feel each other's breath.
The music is still bumping. The alcohol is still flowing, yet you're stuck in this standstill with nothing to break you out of your reverie. Other than the kiss that's planted on your lips, Bakugou tastes like rum and mint gum. You wonder if you taste like lychee, or maybe you'll mix into an entirely new flavor that leaves you both with incessant cravings.
You're unsure when or who pulls away first, but it happens. Your butt plops down right as the round of giggles surrounds you. Bakugou smirked as he sat back, crossing his legs and taking a smug swig of his drink. It was unfair that you were left dazed; he was the reason for it all.
You okay? He mouths over the talking that's come instead of the next bottle spin.
Are you? You ask with a smirk, flipping your hair in jest.
Bakugou rolls his eyes, shaking his head with a full-on grin. You feel something fond bloom in your chest. Something that makes the sound of ringing bells when you see that flash of teeth and a glimpse of a slick tongue. Someone suggests dancing, and pairs of legs come into view as they stumble out as a crew, a unit. There are two missing cogs. You both stay sitting and facing each other.
"I thought you said you were okay," he jokes as he scoots closer.
You realize you have a tendency to mimic him, "I am. You're the one who didn't even try to pretend to follow."
"I don't pretend anything, pretty. I do and say what I mean."
There's a beat of silence, and your clit throbs at the tone of his voice.
"You know what I mean?"
His voice is deep, almost mocking, as he croons at you. You're going to fuck. It might be now, on the last day of your resort, but it would happen. Set in stone, if you will.
"I think I do."
"Mhm. Let's go dance, gotta show you what a real dancer looks like."
Bakugou offers a firm hand and pulls you up like you weigh nothing. It makes you feel tiny, and you wonder if the same effect will happen as you sway your hips against his dick.
You find yourself dancing to Nelly, and hearing lulls about being a promiscuous girl. It makes satisfaction thrum in your chest at having success in your findings. Grinding did, indeed, produce the same effect. Bakugou was trying to dominate your form, and you let it happen.
Bit by bit, you find yourself caring less about the group and becoming more preoccupied with Bakugou. You let him buy you drinks, giggling as your hands jokingly interlace before you pull away coyly. He only smirks at you, chasing you wherever you go, as if he didn't want you to forget him in your intoxicated parade.
He tells you to call him Katsuki when you slur his last name out, gripping the white button as you pout tiredly, "I want to go back to my room."
"Since when am I your keeper, huh?"
Katsuki lays a steady hand on the curve of your waist and lets you fall into him.
"Don't be mean, we bonded sooo much. I thought you were this asshole guy, but you're actually kinda funny and sexy."
"I think I knew that last part. Remember when you tried this on me before?"
"Are you dumb enough to still reject me?"
"Nah, not this time," he says, making sure to drink in your gaze as he does.
Thankfully, you'd already had your first kiss. That made it easier for him to lean forward and press his lips against yours. The promise of something more, and you practically purred as you wrapped your arms around his broad shoulders. Katsuki's hands skirt down your back, down to your hips, and pull you so close, "You're sexy, too."
A bartender squawks at your behavior, and his voice floats over the music and sticky kisses to yell for you to get a room! The man at your side noses your neck and then juts forward.
"Come to my room," and he's so gruff. Like he knows you want this, "Wanna get you alone and see how feisty you are then."
You tug your bottom lip between your teeth. Surely, your friends would be fine; your eyes flit between him and the crowd dancing behind him. Yeah, they'd be alright. Your hand slips into his, and he's quick to tug you next to him by your waist. He makes you unsteady and chuckles, "Let's get goin', then."
Neither of you is composed as you tumble through Katsuki's–clearly luxurious–room onto his plush bed. He's not afraid to lift you with his raw strength and place you right where he wants you. It makes you laugh, tinged with shyness, as his red predatory eyes sweep over you before settling on your face.
It's silent as both eyes hold this deep, wanting gaze. He crawls closer, and you lay back further; he's on top of you with a forearm dipping into the mattress and a veiny hand supporting his weight. Katsuki doesn't touch you as if he's waiting for something. You can't wait anymore, and you're ungracefully yanking him closer till his body weight rests on you, and you can feel his hardness poking at your thigh.
He must have been waiting on you–the bastard! But you can't deny that feeling the rippling strength resting on your body and pressing you into the mattress feels good. You and Katsuki exchange saccharine kisses as your bodies grind together like you're one. He grits his teeth and takes a sharp inhale when your wandering hand brushes against his bulge, "don't, fuck, don't do that."
"Why? Sensitive?"
Katsuki's vermilion eyes meet yours and narrow, "you're such a tease, you know?"
His voice is low and honeyed as he slowly peels your skirt from your thick thighs.
"All I did was ignore you the first time–"
"And then I did the second!"
Seemingly having had enough of your quips, a hush falls over you when his hand swats at your thigh, "Yeah, and you're still under me, begging for my cock. Ironic, right?"
He then snickers when sticky strings stretch from your slick pussy to the cotton underwear.
"She's beggin' too."
In a flash, he's lapping at your folds and groaning at how sweet you taste.
"Oh! Oh my god, w-wait!"
“Nuh-uh, no waiting.”
He's so messy with it. His chiseled nose bumps against your clit with every lap as he mixes spit with your leaking arousal; it's so debauched, and yet you're wailing for more as you try to push his face further between your thighs. Katsuki groans and your eyes meet right when he suckles your clit with his plush, rosy lips.
"Y-Your mouth's so good, ohfuck!"
Katsuki lets out a pleased hum before wrangling your squirming hips under a flexing forearm, "don' move too much. Wanna enjoy this, babe."
His right hand comes up to toy with your soaked hole. His teeth are sharp, and he's downright predatory in how he sinks two fingers into you. They're thicker than yours; a keening whimper escapes you.
"C'mon, tell me how it feels. Since you've been dyin' for it, I want a review, baby."
There's a wet clicking sound as fingers crook against that deliciously torturous spot, leaving stars bursting behind your eyelids.
“Gonna cum! Wanna cum, ‘mygod, ‘tsukiii!”
"Already? Such a needy girl," and he latches his tongue to your puffy clit, massaging it as your pleasure uncoils into a white-hot explosion.
Somewhere in the haze, you can hear Katsuki murmuring, "Good girl, good girl," and leaving sharp kisses on your inner thighs. He chuckles at how you jump, how cute, and sighs into your neck before biting your pulse point.
"Holy fuck," you mumble, hands wringing into his shirt as he peels off his shirt and makes his way up yours.
"You alright? Looked like things were good," and he has the nerve to snicker at you. "It's okay to admit it."
"You're such a cocky bastard. When are you gonna fuck me?"
Katsuki's hands are practically already in his pants as he unbuckles his belt. He shoves his jeans down, and your eyes widen at how big he looks, the fat head leaving a dark patch of pre-cum against his gray boxers. You're coming closer as he tugs off his underwear, leaving him exposed. His cock bobs, smearing on his navel, while a throaty groan escapes his lips once you wrap a soft hand around him. He's so hot and weighty in your hand that you can feel how he practically pulses in your hand; you can't help but want to go in for a little taste…
He's gentle as thick fingers press back on the crown of your head, a tut escaping his lips as he shakes his head, "No way. I'll cum way too fast, wanna give it to you good."
The scratchiness of his voice leaves your thighs pressing together. Katsuki kisses you before motioning for you to settle on your hands and knees.
"Like this?"
You're practically mewling at him! Your back arches so tauntingly, cute butt perked up in the air and swaying back and forth. Katsuki draws close, and your eyelids are fluttering when his fat head bumps against your soaked folds, "ohfuck, stop admiring me already."
"And here I thought you wanted it all nice and sweet," and you're whimpering as the head barely breaches past your pussy. "But, I'll give it to ya' how you like it."
With that, his hands are smoothing over the curve of your back as his heavy balls press against your pussy clit. You're already caving for him, with eyes threatening to roll towards the ceiling as his hips stick to yours. He's so full inside you that you can barely move, barely breathe, only able to leak around him as he grunts, "so fuckin' tight. 'S like you're a virgin."
"Katsukiii. Fuck, pleasepleaseplease move!"
He hums thoughtfully, hips rocking just the slightest inside your gummy walls.
"Ask me again," and he punctures it with a thrust that leaves you breathless.
"Please, wanna feel you fuck me. I-I've been waiting for your annoying ass, I wanna cum so bad…"
The man behind you doesn't seem convinced, though his hips move just a tad faster. " C'mon. I know you can do it. What is it you want again?"
He's pushing you to your breaking point. Katsuki's strong enough that he can press forward and bend you further into that delicious arch, nearly fucking you into the mattress if he would just move!
"Oh god, fuck me. Need to feel you take control, Katsuki, I-I can't! I need you, need you so bad, 'm gonna cry. I jus' wanna feel you breed me, please!?"
"Was that so hard?"
Within seconds, he's hunkering down and fucking you within an inch of your life. Your hands desperately cling to the duvet as if that'll ground you, but he's moving too hard and fast!
"S-So deep, ohshit!"
"Ngh, yeah? You're fucking grippin' me, I love how you sound, how you taste, how you feel–fuuuuck. Let me have it, baby."
You're wailing as you gush around him. The smell of sex is overpowering, and your panting breaths mingle with Katsuki's. You can't help but push back just a bit, the two of you joined together so intimately. His muscles ripple with every rock into your cunt. You wish you could see how debauched he looks–though your ears are privy to the hot groans and curses flying out of him as he slides home over and over and over again.
Katsuki loses himself in your pussy, head tipping back to expose the expanse of his throat as his balls tighten with his orgasm. God, fuck, did you say to breed you? He tries to recover as he watches your sneaky hand desperately rub you till you're trying to run from his thrusts (to which he only tuts and brings you back full force towards him). The slick, papping sounds echo, and you're not even sure what you're saying as you wail for him.
"Oh, 'm gonna cum all over you. Ohfuckfuckfuck, wait! I-I'm gonna, Katsuki!"
"Yeah? Cum all over this dick, let me feel it. Fuck, 'm gonna cum too, gonna fill you up."
Your wrist twists another tight circle, and you're falling apart. Your thighs shake and tight walls squeeze Katsuki, trying to draw him as deep as possible as he hits your g-spot dead on. A cry escapes you, and you know his base is creamy from your orgasm. In the haze, you can tell he's close by how his fingers twitch around your hips; you start mewling weakly for him, "cum inside me. Ohmygod!!”
He's sure he's leaving bruises, and yet he doesn't even care as he shoots rope after rope inside you. God, your pussy sucks him in like it wants every drop; despite the sensitivity, Katsuki can't help but keep moving till you're whining from overstimulation. Pulling out slowly and giving your thigh a playful swat, the two of you practically collapse into the soft sheets.
Katsuki's hand quickly grabs your chin and pulls you to face him. " Are you good?"
With your hair mussed and bruises littering your body, you were more than good. A soft nod, and then you're scooting closer for warmth. Katsuki lets it happen to your joy, a strong arm wrapping around your waist as he hoists you close.
"Good, you gonna run off of me, now?"
"No. Are you?"
"It's my room, you stalker," he teases with a toothy grin. His features are relaxed, and his red eyes are a bit glazed.
He looks wonderful. Beautiful, even.
You review your mental checklist one last time as you pace about your room, door open. How could it have all ended so soon? You'd spent the rest of your days happily fucking, drinking, and soaking in the luxuries of the resort.
Katsuki lingers by the doorway. A flicker of fondness grows into a fire when you turn to see him and smile. When did he get so soft?
"Hey! What's up?"
"What's up? It's your last day, and you're what's upping me."
"Katsukiii," you drag out the syllables and catch the faintest smirk on his lips. "Don't get too sad while I'm gone."
"Please," he scoffs and rolls his eyes, the two of you making eye contact that holds longer than it should.
The two of you shouldn't be so dramatic; you should try to steel yourself. It's not like you've known each other for that long, Katsuki thinks before reaching out and pulling you into a loose hug.
"See ya," he grumbles.
"Hehe, text me! Call me whenever," you mumble into the muscle of his chest.
He smells like the start of a campfire, mixed with a cool cologne that wafts like the breeze of a nearby ocean. You pull away and look into the tides of his eyes, the Red Sea staring back at you, before he gently kisses your lips.
"I'll think about it. For now, I'll walk you out," and he wraps a possessive arm around your waist.
There was no other option; he was walking you out. You squawk at his comment, "That is not an 'I'll think about it' statement!"
"Oh, yeah? Well, lemme think on it."
"Stop it!"

He hated to admit it, but it was the lack of compliance that really did it for him.
But the retelling of the act to you after the fact did it for you both.
"Come to bed, would you? I have work in the morning," you groaned into your empty side of the bed, nothing but a half glass of water and ear plugs on the nightstand. You had already taken the sleeping pills, after all.
"Yeah I'm coming!" Jisung chimes from the bathroom, whipping around the corner and shutting the light off in a haste before climbing into the cold sheets you two would be sharing.
"I love that we can do this," you say, turning to glance at him over your shoulder a bit, "ya know, share a bed without it being like, a sex thing."
He smiles, nodding in assurance. he loves it, too. Sort of for all of the wrong reasons.
Jisung doesn't have an alarm set for his plans, the anticipation keeps him up plenty already. He has a strategy, and every time he plays it out exactly the same way. Without fail. If he were really honest with himself, lying in bed next to you for two hours - thoughts racing through his mind of the fun yet to come - dick half erect for the entire duration, it was enough to reduce him to an insomniac as it was. He had a few rules, naturally, as anyone should when engaging in absolutely treacherous behaviors. Rule one, he never touches himself before beginning the scene, and rule two, don't wake her up. Rule two obviously being the most important of them, but he knew you had a way about you when woken up from your slumber and also there's the whole "lewd acts of non-consent" thing he's got going for him.
It starts as a whisper of your name, to which you never answer, of course. Followed by Jisung propping himself up on an elbow to lean over, gently, testing the drip and movement of the mattress and how disturbing it is to you. No response. This is when Jisung knows that it's time to play.
By now he's already hard, palming himself through the thin fabric of basketball shorts under the blanket that the both of you share, biting back heavy breaths as his eyes stare into the back of your sleeping head. He's hopeful that you will eventually turn to face him, but it's not necessary.
He can really only take a few moments of it before slipping his hand to touch his bare cock, fulling wrapping fingers around himself and pumping dully. Every time he does it, he thinks about how he knows how devastating getting caught would be, how friendship ruining, life ruining - absolute destruction and chaos.
It makes his cock twitch in his hand, he can already feel heat pooling in his stomach.
Unfortunately, that is the tale of perversion - the more he shouldn't, the more gratifying it is to do it.
Jisung feels the dip in the mattress shift on his opposite side and freezes, hand still holding himself, watching the way the body next to him adjusts with intensity - he has to find out if his little game is over and if he'll have to run off to the bathroom to jerk himself off to an unsatisfactory finish into the toilet, but it looks promising when all the gesture results in is you lying on your back, still very much asleep, and much to Jisung's absolute pleasure - chest fully on display. Exposed.
It takes him a moment before he feels comfortable enough with your act of slumber before he pulls his eyes away from your own and lets them trail down to your breasts, allowing his hand movement again but this time the pulls a bit more ragged and hungry than before. He can't touch. no touching, ever. but the looking that he most definitely is not privy to either is more than enough of a treat, along with the perfect visual of a fast asleep face next to his.
Normally, he likes to take his time. Tonight, is not going to be one of those nights he realizes as his breath picks up unusually quickly. Jisung finds he's way ahead of schedule, but the way heat is pooling and his muscles are tightening he knows he's not going to be able to last as long as he normally does.
Jisung quietly, carefully pulls himself up and off of the sweaty mattress, his tshirt clinging to his soaked back as he does so - kneeling with little distance and only slightly hunched over. He takes passing note of how thankful he is for the headboard, on which his hand now resides to hold his body weight. A cute, fleeting thought before his mind is once again clouded by perversion and desire - completely rewired in a way that rendered him almost unrecognizable as the Han Jisung that anyone knew him as. Hand gripped tightly around his hard length, pumping hard and fast at himself with bottom lip pulled between his teeth in an attempt to dull his whines - because he knows what waking you means for him - and it's that thought in and of itself that he loses himself to, unable to truly remain fully silent with a reluctant groan escaping between his bitten mouth as he pumps strands of cum onto your skin - across your breasts, catching on your mouth and chin, watching a small amount pool into the dip of your suprasternal notch before carefully climbing himself down and catching his breath.
He wipes his forehead with the back of his hand, heart beating out of his chest and cock softening as he stuffs himself back into his pants. He inhales deeply, turning to reach off the bed and down below to a towel that he had already prepared for the nights activities.
Gingerly reaching forward, prudent fingers delicately caressing your skin as if afraid of disturbing you. Except that was the point.
"Hey," he whispers gently, nudging you on the shoulder and jostling you a bit in place before beginning to wipe his mess from you. It wakes you up tenderly, immediately remembering the circumstances of which that had been agreed and you smile at him with lazy eyes.
"Have fun?"
And Jisung simply smiles, wiping wetness from your chin, "I love you, tell you about it tomorrow."

i cry and beg for hotch x chronically ill/chronic pain reader fluff…..hes so……scromp
as a chronic pain sufferer, i got you 🫡 enjoy angel ♡
Tumblr media
in the distance you hear aaron in the kitchen, he shuts a cupboard just slightly too hard and you flinch, eyes shutting as your forearm covers your eyes, blocking out the light
your free hand slides along the mattress until you're pressing the tips of your fingers into the back of your hip, groaning softly when pain radiates over your side
everything hurts, waking up with a pounding in your head and being able to feel every single one of your bones because somehow, they ache, is not what you had planned for the day
"morning honey," aaron hums from the doorway and you know he's got tea as the scent fills the room almost immediately. your forearm slips away from your eyes, just enough for you to squint at him, "you okay?" he asks, warily
"no," you breathe, simply, looking up at the ceiling. aaron slides your mug onto your bedside table before standing at the edge of the bed, "everything hurts," you whine, shutting your eyes again
aaron notices your sudden sensitivity to light, quickly moving to the other side of the room to pull the curtains shut, "everything?" he says quietly, though you hear the wince in his voice, "can you sit up?"
slowly you move, groaning and whimpering to yourself when a burning heat spreads over your ribcages but eventually you make it, leaning back against the headboard with a sigh
"well done," aaron says, sincerely, as he leans over you, grabbing your mug from the side before pressing it into your hand, "drink this, i'll get some painkillers," he bends to kiss your forehead gently
you sip on your drink, eyelids heavy as you watch aaron leave and then return with a packet in his hand, “this is all we have,” he mumbles, turning the half empty sheet in his hands
“better than nothing,” you say softly, offering him a half assed smile while you hold your hand out. two pills drop into your hand with a small clink, “thanks”
beside you, aaron rummages through the drawer in the beside table, a frown covering his face before he finds what he’s looking for, a notebook and a pen
he pulls his phone from his pocket, mumbling the time to himself before writing it down and what pills you’ve just taken, “do you want me to set an alarm for in four hours?” he asks, knowing that’s when you can have more
“it’s okay,” you sigh when you can’t quite reach around enough to get your mug on the side but before you can drop it, aaron takes it from you
you sit in silence for a moment, letting your warm hands slide over your ribs and down to your hips while your brain slowly switches on, “oh my god, aren’t we supposed to be going out with the others?”
aaron shushes you softly, “i already told them, don’t worry, they understand,” he explains, the bed dips under his weight as he perches on the edge of the mattress
his hand slips into yours, thumb rubbing gentle circles over your wrist, “you should still go, i’ll be fine,” you whisper, flinching slightly over an ache in the side of your wrist
“absolutely not,” aaron says, kissing the back of your hand, “i won’t complain about having a quiet day,”
you notice how he doesn’t say a lazy day, like most people do and your heart warms a little, “i need a bath but then i’m coming back to bed,”
aaron nods, pulling the covers off of you, “do you need help?” he asks, eyeing you cautiously when you plant your hands on the edge of the mattress
he doesn’t need an answer, instead just helping you up. his hands settle on your waist, letting you take a moment to breathe before you tackle the walk to the bathroom
you could burst into tears, with how gentle and caring he is with you. he runs your bath, undresses you and then ties your hair up, “come on then pretty girl,” he hums
it must take minutes of you leaning your weight onto him, allowing him to help you lower yourself down until you’re submerged by water
“thanks,” you say, leaning back until you’re laying, revelling in the way the hot water starts to soothe your aches and pains
aaron crouches beside the bath, pressing his lips against your forehead again, “call me when you’re ready to get out” he says, leaving the door open slightly so he can hear you
by the time you’re ready to leave, the water has started to turn cold but you feel slightly better than you did before, “aaron, honey, love of my life-”
he appears in the doorway before you can finish, “ready?” he asks, raising an eyebrow while you nod, holding one hand out for him, while you lean on the edge of the bath with the other
you’re wrapped in a towel before both of your feet have even touched the bathmat. his big hands squeezing at your sides, patting you down gently until you’re dry
“i forgot your pyjamas,” aaron huffs, causing you to roll your eyes, “come on,” he slips his hand into yours, guiding you back towards the bedroom
a soft gasp passes your lips when you notice that all the bedding has been changed to a fresh set and on top of it sits a tray of all your favourite snacks while candles flicker a soft glow across the room
“aaron,” you pout, staring up at him, “you didn’t have to do all of this,” your voice wobbles, a sorry attempt at trying not to cry over it
“if we’re going to have a bed day, we’re doing it right, honey,” he chuckles, handing you one of his t-shirts. as you pull it on, the doorbell rings
“who’s that?” you ask, frowning at him. your hand tightens around his arm while you bend, pulling a pair of shorts up your legs
“jj,” aaron answers simply, hiding a chuckle when you give him a questioning look, “well, she wanted to help so she picked up some more painkillers, a list of snacks and your favourite takeaway, with enough for left overs, for later,” he explains
“oh my, tell her i love her,” you gush, “and i love you even more,” you rise up, kissing him quickly three times, “now go, don’t leave her waiting,” you shoo him, flapping your hands gently against his stomach
aaron rolls his eyes at you, playfully, “i love you too”

the one that got away. (ellie roebuck)
Tumblr media
word count: 1.2k
not fully back on tumblr but here you go x
based on katy perry’s song
summer after highschool when we first met
The sound of laughter echoed throughout the empty house, as Ellie chased after you, her phone in hand. Rounding one of the corners you slowed down to catch you breath.
“God El, I am not fit right now!” Your dramatics had given the taller blonde just enough time to catch up to you. Quickly slinging her arm over your shoulder, making sure you couldn’t run away again, she grabbed her phone and slotted her hand into yours.
“Come on I’m thirsty!” She had practically dragged you towards the kitchen before promptly getting comfortable on the island while she watched you fill up the glasses with ice and juice.
“C’mere love” opening up her arms, allowed there to be just enough room for you to slot yourself into the gap between her legs and arms. Bringing over the glasses you set them aside before moving to stand in front of the blonde.
No words were exchanged as your fingers dipped underneath the waistband of her bikini, hands resting on her hips. While her hands delicately traced patterns on your shoulder blades. The water beads that were splattered all over your back were no longer separated as her hands roamed all over your back.
You learn forwards to connect your lips with hers, only moving away when air becomes an issue, Ellie quickly pulling you back towards her as you giggled into the second kiss which allowed Ellie to slip her tongue into your mouth. Your mind instantly being brought into a state of ecstasy, the glasses of juice long forgotten as you were too wrapped up in a bubble of bliss.
Later on that evening once your parents had come home the two of you had taken refuge in the upstairs living room. “Y/n we’re going out for dinner with your grandparents! We’ll be home later.” Just like that, not even two hours at home, before they were off again.
used to steal your parents’ liquor and climb to the roof
Not even battering an eye at their goodbye you simply shrugged it off as an idea made its way into your mind. “Come with me” grabbing her hand, you dragged her down the stairs and into the cellar.
“Take your pick El!” Spinning around indicating to the room stocked with all sorts of liquors. Picking up the first random bottle of whatever you could find that was open, Ellie doing the same, before the two of you made your way out towards the roof.
The sound of fast paced footsteps and laughter was the only thing that could be heard in the eerily quiet house, sound bouncing off the plain white walls.
The cool air hitting you like a brick as you opened the sliding doors. Cursing under your breath as you could felt the cold tiles underneath your feet once you took a step outside. The once hot summer's day had turned into a typical cold British evening, as the clouds changed from white to grey and the temperature dropped ten degrees within the hour.
As the two of you had settled on the highest balcony in the house, the roof. Ellie had brought you closer while she took a swig out of the bottle. The once almost full bottles lay empty besides you while the conversation turned from serious to absolute nonsense.
talk about our futures like we had a clue
“No but El!” You giggle pointing towards a collection of stars in the sky “that one looks like like a cow with three legs, or wait no… it looks like a horse with three legs but only one ear!”
Smiling as you looked over towards the blonde who laid besides you, she was already looking in your direction. “Won’t your parents be mad if they find us out here?”
Shaking your head you looked back up at the stars “nope they don’t care, besides we are technically adults!” You had turned eighteen not even four days prior, that definitely should not have given you the title of being a responsible adult.
Ellie was definitely the more level headed one out of the two of you as you babbled on about whatever sprung to mind.
“Have you decided which university you’re going to yet y/n/n?” The question took you by surprise as the topic of universities was one that the two of you danced around. “Still adamant that you’re going to one far away from here?”
Nodding at her statement you answered her “yeah… didn’t I tell you? I’m going to ucla!” It was after weeks of a back and forth between starting your own journey by yourself or going with Lotte, Alessia and Lois to North Carolina.
But the thought of finally having no one to hold you back brought a smile to your face every time, maybe it was the independent only child in you or maybe it was the thought of freedom that excited you. But once the decision was made you were excited as ever.
Not even a month later, an early five am start was just the beginning of your new adventure. Ellie, adamant as ever, insisted she would drive you to the airport.
never planned that one day I’d be losing you
“Maybe you should stay out here, I reckon it’ll be harder to say goodbye inside.” The blonde was in your arms in a matter of seconds.
Pressing a discrete kiss to her shoulder as she whispered into your ear “I’ll see you really soon okay? And I’ll message you every day!”
Spoiler alert, you didn’t message each other everyday.
You must’ve stood out there for at least ten minutes before finally making your way inside the airport, ready to start your new adventure, solo.
In another life I would be your girl
So I don’t have to say you were the one who got away
Both of you watched each other from afar, over instagram posts and Snapchat stories, but neither of you had even attempted to message the other.
Your excuse, was that you were trying to establish your name in the team, make new friends and keep up with the new level of intensity in regards to the workload. Which left you absolutely no time to keep up to date with what was going on back home.
Ellie’s excuse was simple really, you had made it crystal clear that you were ready for your new adventure alone and she didn’t want to bother you. It was a shit excuse, she knew it was, but every time her finger hovered over the call button she chickened out.
Even years later, what was the best summer of your life turned into merely a fond memory. Every camp when you looked over at the blonde memories came rushing back. But never, had you ever, interacted with Ellie more than needed.
Maybe one day the two of you could rekindle what once was, but that day never seemed to arrive.

it was date night. you were sick on a date night. nothing could have been worse than that but at least peter was by your side. he had promised you a day before that he would come over as soon as the last bell rang and he’d seemed to kept up said promise because there was knocking at your window.
you opened your eyes and forced yourself out of bed, not wanting to get up but wanting peter to be by your side more than anything. you’d taken paracetamol for the fever which was making you super drowsy. making your way to the window with small steps, you unlocked it so that your boyfriend could enter inside.
peter hopped inside your room, quickly closing the window shut and throwing his bag on the floor.
“are you alright? are you cold?” he asked, placing a hand over your forehead.
“a little.” you replied, leaning into his touch. peter was quick– but gentle– to wrap his arms around your waist. you nuzzled your burning face into his chest, arms hanging by your side.
“do you want me to carry you to the bed?” peter asked, not wanting to cause you any discomfort while still being of help. you nodded against his midtown sweatshirt and before you could notice he’d picked you up bridal style, walking you to the bed before placing you down.
“want anything else, sweetheart?” he asked once more as he saw your heavy eyes close. all you did was shifted back and pulled back your blankets, a sign which he understood.
peter crawled onto your bed, pulling the sheets around his frame before he pulled you closer to him, an arm going around you and rubbing up and down your back, “if you need anything, you can-”
peter’s sentence was cut short when you shook your head, “let’s just sleep.”
“okay, we can sleep.” he gave your forehead a little kiss and soon with peter’s hand running up and down your back, sleep overtook you.
you woke up with a sore throat and peter was missing from the bed. your voice was a whisper when you called his name but peter’s head poked inside your room before he was completely entering your room, a cup in his hands, “where’d you go?” you asked.
“i made you some tea, you were shivering.” he said, keeping the tea on your bedside table and helping you sit up.
you leaned against peter’s shoulder as he got into bed and handed you your tea, “you feeling any better.”
“sorta? still very sleepy.”
peter’s hand travelled to your forehead once more, taking your temperature, “you’re still hot.”
“damn.” you chuckled, “you really know how to make a lady’s heart swoon, don’t you?”
“hey! you know what i mean!” peter chuckled, wrapping an arm around your shoulders, “maybe you should try a cold bath.”
“huh?”
“i’ve heard that taking a cold bath helps with fever.”
“well, i’m too tired to run a bath-”
“i got it covered!” peter said. a little peck on your cheek and the brunette was off to the bathroom. you admired how much peter was invested on taking care of you but you were worried for the same too. you knew he’d stayed up the whole time while you were sleeping, just in case you woke up and needed anything.
“come on, let’s get you into the water.” peter was by your side, holding your hand and walking with you to the bathroom. he turned around when you started to unbutton the shirt you’d had on, it was one of his.
you loved this about peter. he was so considerate of your feelings, not wanting you to feel uncomfortable even after having you seen naked not just once but two times by now.
you dipped your feet into the water too quick, not remembering it was supposed to be cold. you almost lost your footing but peter’s senses kicked in and his arms were catching you before you could touch the ground.
“easy.” he stated as he helped you inside the tub. you shivered and winced at the cold feeling.
“i-it’s too cold.” you gave peter a frown.
“it’s supposed to be that cold, baby.” he knelt to the floor, placing a gentle hand over arm, “give it a few minutes, okay?”
once the water started feeling less colder, you relaxed, leaning against the tub. peter rinsed your hair and took time to shampoo them. you hummed as he massaged your scalp, “this is nice.”
“told you it would help.” peter grinned.
after your bath, peter supported you up to your feet with you stumbling a little and clinging to his side. grabbing a towel, you wrapped it around yourself before the two of you made your way out of the bathroom.
“im sorry i ruined your clothes.” you mumbled as peter brought fresh clothes for you.
“it’s just water.” he shrugged, “they’ll dry.”
“change into something, i don’t want us both to be sick. that’s not like, a couple goal.” peter laughed and you tried not to, because of your scratchy throat.
you changed into the clothes peter had handed you before getting back into bed. you were feeling a bit better than you did before that bath.
peter came back into the room soon after and got into the bed with you, “good?”
“very good.” you nestled into him, “are you good?”
“i’m alright.”
“are you sure? you were looking after me so much and i think you should get some-”
a soft snore fell out of your boyfriend’s mouth and your eyes travelled to his sleeping figure. he was out before you could complete your sentence.
“rest.” you smiled, adjusting the blanket around him.
you made sure to order his favourite pizza, deciding you’d wake him up before it was dinner time. he deserved the rest after the long day he’d had.

Hating You As Well
(And Loving You Just As Much)
Part One, Part Two (you're here dummy), Part Three
Aizawa still isn't honest with his feelings, but you weren't exactly one to jump ship and demand a relationship. So now, in this grey area, you two are forced to co-exist, while other feelings grow and fester.
Fem!Reader, She/Her pronouns
TW!: Slight descriptions of violence, nothing too crazy, suggestive language
Tumblr media
You two didn't speak about what happened on the couch afterward. You not wanting to bring it up and him just avoiding you. You got most of your papers graded, and when Aizawa finished with his portion, he rushed out of the living room. Your heart dropped to your stomach, watching him leave without a word. Sighing, you went back to your papers, trying to just get them done.
___________________________________________
The next morning was silent, the night before Aizawa hadn't come out of his room at all, and you watched his door, trying to listen to what he was doing. The next morning, you hadn't slept in, getting up early to go on a run. You knew Aizawa wouldn't be awake at this hour, but he probably would soon. So you started a large pot of coffee and grabbed a sports drink and made your way out.
The wait in the elevator was tedious, but you took the time to adjust yourself. Thinking about your life, thinking about him. Did you really like Aizawa? Maybe (yes), but did he like you? Maybe? I mean, there would be no other reason for him to also lean into a kiss, the feeling of his strong and large hand haunted you, fingers reaching around your shoulder blades. Dammit Hizashi, you spitefully thought to yourself.
But what would've come from it? Would there have been an awkward moment of 'where do we go from here?' or would there be an admission of feelings, but what feelings? Would there have been an unspoken moment of understanding?
You shook your head, willing away unnecessary thoughts. The elevator doors dinged open, and you happily trotted out, all you needed was an early morning run to clear your head, and everything would be fine.
___________________________________________
Okay everything was not fine.
When you came back, very sweaty and gross from your jog, you should work out more damn, Aizawa was already up. The slut* was walking around with absolutely no shirt on, and only the tightest goddamn pair of black boxers ever. His defined and scarred body on full display, lean but built body, languidly lounging around in the light morning sun. His dark and long hair was up in a messy bun, with a few strands of hair falling out. The scar beneath his eye was on full display, only adding to that rugged and overtly masculine look.
Cheap shot you bitch.
He was sipping coffee while leaning on one of the kitchen counters. Oddly on the one that faced the front door. He watched you pant in, immediately going to the cupboards to fill yourself a glass of water. You felt his eyes watching you, felt them watch and analyze every curve and scar, every dip and bump, every beauty and imperfection. You downed your cup, not acknowledging him in the slightest, lest you show the effect he had on you. Neither of you said a word to the other, not even a head nod to show that you had seen the other. Just ignoring him for the time being, with no complaints on the other end.
At the staff meeting later that day, you happily sat by Hizashi, joining in his excited chatter.
"I know this sounds cheesy, but I can't wait to see the students come back again! I've missed them." Hizashi swooned, a sad puppy dog look on his face.
You laughed and opened your mouth to join into his lighthearted admission before another voice cut you off.
"I don't, the little bastards have already gotten in enough trouble. I can't imagine what it'll be like when they move in." Aizawa grumbled out, looking in front of him with a disgruntled look.
You and Hizashi froze, just staring at him for a moment. He usually sat on the other side of you 'loudmouths,' usually too tired to deal with the shenanigans that you, said blonde, and Nemuri got up into. (Usually just passing notes between all three of you with the smashabiltiy of your coworkers and other heroes (also dicks, but not from the person you'd think)) So it was shocking to see him willingly sitting next to you three while earning a death glare from Anan, whose spot he'd stolen.
"Don't act like you don't love them you Tsundere. You'd probably eat your arm if it meant they were happy." You teased, sighing while you poked at him.
He deadpanned you for using such an outdated term but just grumbled while hiding his face in his scarf. Hizashi elbowed you, wiggling his eyebrows at you while smirking. You were confused for a second before you realized what he was implying, hitting his arm to make him stop. He yelped, angrily muttering curses at you while he looked down. Principle Nedzu loudly cleared his throat, standing up straight while looking at all of you. He clapped his soft hands, signing the beginning of the meeting.
___________________________________________
Well that meeting was a waste of your time. All the meeting was about how we should pay a little more attention to the students now that we're all in dorms. Those who work at night, namely Hizashi, Aizawa, Nemuri, etc., were asked to make sure they don't sneak out and do room checks randomly. Heroes who work in the day, you, Anan, Ken, and others were asked to make sure students acted right during the day, and stayed inside school property. Simple enough but...
"That could've just been an email." Nemuri sighed, peeling off her mask and putting her hair up. Ken was doing the opposite, putting down his cement-like hair and flattening it against his head.
"Agreed. I understand communication is important, especially during such difficult times but..." He sighed, rubbing his flat face.
"It's super annoying. We should all get coffee cups that say 'this meeting could've been an email' on them and just use them every time we have one." You sighed, adjusting yourself to make yourself more comfortable as well.
"Well, now that that's over, and we don't really have anything else to do...wanna go out for drinks?" Hizashi perked up, green sunglasses perched on his head, hair still gelled up.
"It's one o'clock in the afternoon." Aizawa scowled, looking disapprovingly at the man.
"I think he just wants to hang out rather than drink." You slung your arm over Aizawa. He scowled at you but didn't move your arm.
"No, I'm totally gonna drink." Hizashi said while walking backwards, already calling a cab.
"Oh yeah me too." Nemuri agreed, nodding her head.
___________________________________________
"I don't know why I came." Aizawa was acting pissy, laying down his head on his crossed arms, glaring at the loudmouths around him.
"Because you loveee us, admit it!" You sang, stirring the drink in your hands. You weren't drunk per say but you were definitely looser and happier now. "Cmon, won't you drink a little?" You looked down at him, smirk on your face.
He scoffed and looked away, sitting up straight. "Someone needs to get you home, and we share a living space, so I'm forced to babysit."
"Dawww, it's okay to show your emotions." You tugged on his uniform sleeve, putting yourself in his personal space.
"Hey!" Hizashi called out to you, definition more drunk than you were. "Let's do karaoke!" He motioned you over, pointing to Anan, who was already singing. You happily jumped up, waiting behind Sekijiro to sing.
When it was your turn, your singing was horrid. It was off-key and loud. Most of your friends just laughed and egged you on, spurring you to sing louder and worse. Still, even in your fuzzy mind you recognize on pair of dark eyes just staring at you. Not in a negative way, no, there was something in his face and eyes that made you quiet down some. Just so he knew you were singing for him.
___________________________________________
You don't know how you got home, but you did. Looking at the time, it was seven PM at night. You groaned, rubbing your head while your other hand limply hung off the couch. An oversized jacket was forced on you, baggy, and so so warm.
"Drink this." You looked up to the dark presence above, squinting at the harsh contrast of the shadow to the bright apartment. You got up and groggy drank the water.
"Thanks." You sighed, looking up at Aizawa.
"Sure. Just try to be more responsible next time. You have an image to uphold." He snatched back the cup when you finished, which you realized had prints of black cats on it.
"Mehmehmehmeh." You made a face, mocking him in a high-pitched voice while making a puppet with your hand. The man you were making fun glared at you from the kitchen, activating his quirk while washing your dish.
"I'm being serious. Anyone could've walked in and seen a UA teacher acting a fool at a bar." He growled, now in the drying process.
"Ahh, it was one drink! And plus, none of our dear students are gonna walk into a bar." You got up stretching, scratching your leg while walking past him.
"It was more than one drink!" He called out to you.
"One, ten does it matter?" You replied, entering your bedroom and shutting your door behind you, ending the conversation.
The next morning, you found yourself with a jacket you'd never had before. It was baggy, many sizes too large for you, and something right out of a goth magazine. You don't know where you got it from, but it was warm and comfortable, plus it smelt nice, so you added it to your closet.

The students finally arrived and settled in the dorms, now UA dorm life was in full swing. It was peaceful to see such vibrant characters and youth constantly surround you, it filled you with a new vigor. That was, until now.
Loud crashing woke you up in the dead of night, and you immediately jumped up into action. You didn't yell or scream. Instead, you grabbed a flashlight and a small knife. You slowly opened your bedroom door, crouching out and keeping close to the wall. There was a large imposing figure standing in the middle of the hall, leaning against the wall while fussing with their boot.
Taking the chance, you kicked off the wall and laughed yourself forward. Landing on the interlopers back, you wrapped your arm around their neck, using your free hand to press the switch blade on their face. Your legs immediately wrapped around their muscled frame, trapping yourself onto them.
"What the fuck are you doing in my home." You growled in their ear, putting pressure on the knife to start to dig into their cheek.
"Getting my dumbass kids." Aizawa growled out, hands trying to rip you off of him.
You froze for a second, eyes going wide and mouth going slack.
"Huh!?" You yelled out, toppling off of your roommate. Knife clattering somewhere into the kitchen.
Aizawa turned to you, pissed off and resuming his fussing with his shoes. He tilted his head in your direction but not looking at you. You sat on the ground, still processing everything.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry. Did I get you anywhere?" You finally came to your senses, scrambling up to check him. Grabbing his chin, you tilted his head back and forth, inspecting.
"I'm fine. I've got to go." He ripped his head back, leaning away from your touch. He finally got his boots of fully, walking into the kitchen and to the front door.
"No you're not, I cut you." You ran into the kitchen, pulling out the first aid kit from under the sink.
"It's fine." He was already at the door, but you ran to him and grabbed the back of his shirt.
"No, it's not, I could've really hurt you." You had grabbed an antiseptic wipe and a bandaid to clean up the cut you made on him. It was small, a nonconsequential wound. But you still took delicate care to cleaning it and covering it up. He didn't get the chance to see what kind of bandaid you put on him, but he felt that it was small.
"As if." He mumbled, eyes fluttering closed as he accepted your gentle touch. There was no bite in his tone, like he was just saying it to say it, to keep up an image. You pulled back, and gave him a once-over.
Aizawa opened his eyes again, and turned to the door to hide his face from you.
"Now you can get your dumbass kids, asshole." You smiled softly, and even if he couldn't see your face, he registered the softness in your tone. The fondness.
When Aizawa got done with yelling at his two problems children, he turned and stomped away, leaving them to be angry at him.
Midoriya remembered something for a moment and hesitantly turned to his rival/best friend.
"Hey Kacchan, was there a Hello Kitty bandaid on his face?" Midoriya seemed a little dumbfounded. It couldn't be true, Aizawa with a bandaid on his face, let alone a Hello Kitty one?
"Hah? The fuck are you talking about?" Bakugo was still clearly pissed, but he was more taken aback than angry.
"That little pink sticker on him, I could swear I saw Hello Kitty on it." Midoriya responded, adamant that he did see it.
Bakugo was silent for a moment, and the freckled boy thought he was ignoring him. So he just sighed and returned inside.
Bakugo smirked a little, now fully remembering. Yeah, he was.

The next morning you decided to ask what happened.
"My two biggest problems decided to sneak out and fight. It hasn't even been a week, and they're already trying to kill each other." Aizawa angrily muttered into his cup of coffee.
You stared at him for a second, pursing your lips. "Did you expel them?" You tilted your head, eyeing him warily.
"I wish." He chuckled, drinking his coffee.
"Ah, so they're your favorites." You smiled, wiping your hands and heading to serve yourself a plate of food. You heard the stern teacher sputtering behind you, coughing as a result of his reaction.
"I have no favorites, and those two would never be them." He responded, setting down his cup heavily.
"But you didn't expel them. You just gave them house arrest and chores. Your favorites." You shrugged, turning around to smirk at him.
"Well, it..." Aizawa shook his head, face pulling into one of anger as he looked for an excuse. He gave up, flopping his hands down to look at you. "They'll learn. They just need more discipline. It's hardly a call for expulsion."
"Let's see," You set down your toast to count examples. "Sneaking out after curfew barely a few days into moving into dorms, destructive of school property, assault on another student, three students snuck out without permission to save another classmate, Midoriya being the ringleader, anddd..." You screwed up your face, and you tried to remember more. You snapped your fingers and pointed at the scowling Aizawa. "Oh! First day, you should've expelled Midoriya and transferred him to another class, but you didn't." You leaned on the counter and tilted your head. "Instead, you let him stay in the hero course because you believed in him. Plus, that whole unwritten speech about Bakugo when he was kidnapped? There was nothing in our notes that said anything of what you said. But you said it anyway, from your heart."
Aizawa had a carefully neutral face, just staring at you while you grilled him.
"So my only crime is believing in my students." His voice was monotone, any semblance of emotion wiped from his face. If it were anyone else, you would've thought they were pissed at you or angry. But you knew better, you recognized that face from last night. The 'I'm pissed because I expected better from you' face.
"No," You grabbed your plate and walked past Aizawa to lounge in the living room, patting his shoulder as you walked. "Your only crime is having a huge heart, but the inability to even show you even have one."
___________________________________________
There was no real reason for you to be here, you thought to yourself. You barely helped out when the kids picked out their ultimate moves, and you were definitely not one of the teachers who regularly trained with the kids, but you still found yourself being dragged to go to the hero licensing exams.
You adjusted your hero costume, pulling down and pulling up the outfit where need be.
"Why am I coming again?" You asked Aizawa, turning to him to see he was already staring at you.
He shrugged, "Principal Nedzu just said you were to come." He looked away, fiddling with his phone while he waited for you to get ready.
"Well, sure, I got that, but he didn't email me, and I don't exactly see why-" You were still pulling yourself together, grabbing an over-the-shoulder bag and checking whether or not you had your keys, your wallet, and extra makeup and other stuff you might need.
"Are you ready yet? At this rate, we'll hold up the whole class and make them late." He interrupted you, crossing his arms impatiently.
You deadpanned him and adjusted the strap. "Yes, I'm ready. Dick." You stuck your tongue out at him while he held the door open for you, trying to push you out.
"You need to watch your mouth more. Who knows who's listening." He scolded, pressing the elevator button. The elevator dinged open, and you two stepped inside. Aizawa went to press the floor button, but you beat him to it. He gave you a look.
You smiled. "I like pressing the buttons."
"What are you, a child?" He scoffed.
"Then you'd be a predator." You shot back without thinking. Both of you realized what you meant by that, but before you could spit out on explanation, the door opened again.
Hizashi strolled in, whistling a tune. "Hey guys!" He cheered, ignoring the tension behind him. "What's up?" He turned around, looking at your blushing face and Aizawa's blatant ignoring of you.
"Nothing, what are you up to?" You chuckled, rubbing your head.
"Gonna go out and be a radio host and communications guy." He smiled, but you heard the strain in his voice.
Your bashful attitude dropped, and you held out a hand. "Hey, don't spread yourself super thin." You advised, voice full of worry.
The elevator dinged to all of your last stops, and Hizashi strolled out before the two of you, walking backward to face you.
"Don't worry about me! I'll be fine." He waved you off, turning around to walk normally with his hands in his pockets.
"I worry about him sometimes." You admitted, stuck in place. Aizawa walked out before you, holding the elevator so it didn't close on you.
"He's fine, trust me. Hizashi doesn't think about much other than music and having fun." He shrugged, looking off.
"That's because he thinks through you. He speaks Aizawa and thinks Aizawa." You stepped out, walking out the bottom common room to the main grounds of UA.
Aizawa shrugged, not saying anything as he followed you. You looked out to all the excited students, the air buzzing with conversation.
Aizawa got his classes' attention, speaking to all his students.
"Now listen up. This is the most important test of your life, and only fifty percent of the whole student body will pass." That made the class tense up and freeze, dramatic whispers grew between them. "Even though some of you are in trouble." He made direct, unashamed eye contact with both Midoriya and Bakugo, "You will all take the test. Now let's go before we're late." He led the class in the bus, you two being the last ones in.
"They're your favorite." You sang, tapping your knees. You two were sitting in separate seats, but you two were as close to the edge as possible.
"Keep your voice down." He snapped but didn't deny it.

Ms. Joke was awesome.
She shamelessly flirted with Aizawa, if not being a bit pushy with it, and teased him.
You knew of her, you had some run-ins with her when you first debuted. She was a light-hearted, strong woman who had a good sense of humor, she often used to make you double over in full-out belly laughter. But there was something different this time, she was funny, that didn't change, but you weren't laughing so hard you cried now.
"Eraser," Ms. Joke was barely holding back laughter now, "Your fly is down."
You and Aizawa sat next to each other while Ms. Joke was two seats away from you two. That... wasn't all that funny....huh. Maybe Aizawa's bitterness rubbed off of me? Aizawa just sat there like he hated the world, but especially her right now.
"I can't believe you have a full class! Usually, you would've expelled someone by now. You must actually like your class." She turned to him, and you leaned over.
"Right! I think he has a secret soft spot for all of them, but especially-" You exclaimed, excited that some outside of UA had noticed this.
Aizawa cut you off by putting his hand in front of your face, now angry at the world, Ms. Joke, and you.
She laughed, and you giggled. "You're so predictable! Date me." Ms. Joke immediately turned to him.
"Shut up." He scowled, and she just laughed in response.
You sat back up now, looking at him teasingly. "If I have a say-"
"You don't."
"I think you two would make a great couple!" You grabbed Aizawa's shoulders and leaned him to the loud woman, and she just laughed in response. Strangely, you could see her breath from this angle, but you could also see Aizawa's hair float up for a mere second before it dropped again. An action so small and unnoticeable that if you hadn't been so close, you wouldn't have seen it.
You let go, and she leaned to you two, a slightly angry look on her face.
"But c'mon, you both know what's going to happen in just a few seconds." Her eyebrows were slightly furrowed, a strained smile.
You looked at the dark man beside you, really he sticks out pretty bad here, and gave him a confused and slightly scared look.
You heard her say something earlier, but you had no idea what it meant, let alone now.
"And yet, you didn't say a thing to your class. Every year the test is always different." She rested her chin on her fist, looking determined out on the field. Aizawa was blankly doing the same, but there was a different look in his eye, one you recognized. One of a teacher who knows what his students can do.
You were shifting on your seat, watching class 1-A break up into factions, trying to understand what the other woman was saying.
"It's a tradition during the exam, most if not almost all of the students have equal footing. Except for one." She dropped her hand, sitting up straight. You were watching her, a feeling of foreboding coming over you as she delved more and more into her dramatic rant.
"UA has a serious disadvantage. Showing off the country's top schools sports program to the whole country, which showed off not just your students' quirks, but their weaknesses and their fighting styles too." Your eyes widened, and you turned back to the field. Watching the majority of the class you grew to care about deeply, be unknowingly followed. "It's a little funny, isn't it?"
That made your heart race, surprise written all over your face. Aizawa ignored her, eyebrows deepening.
"If you actually liked your class this year, you should've warned them about this. It happens every time your school takes the exam, UA is immediately crushed." She said, and to prove her right, a crowd of students all aimed for one group. Yours.
You looked at Aizawa, wondering why he kept quiet about all this. He glanced at you briefly before nodding his head back to the field with the tiniest of motions. That feeling of dread was replaced with pride as you watched Midoriya effortlessly kick away a storm of balls with one kick. From this angle, Ms. Joke assumed you turned away from Aizawa, feeling a little awkward that she had now seemingly made you upset. What she didn't see was your proud smile, your smirk of arrogance. Yeah, they'll be fine.
"I don't really see a reason why I should've warned them. Nothing would've changed if I did, either way, they would've had to deal with it." You and Aizawa watched as your students effortlessly dodged and moved, using their quirks to the best of their abilities to take back the advantage that was stripped away from them. It was taking everything in you not to just cheer out for them, not to scream, hell yeah!
"Real heroes turn around any situation. Besides, when they become pros in the spotlight, they'll have to face villains who already know their quirks." His voice was stern and sharp, with no room for argument. "Perhaps at UA, we look further ahead than other schools." Even though he still had that monotone voice, Aizawa had a passion for his students, one that he barely contained.
A dark shadow fell over the laughing woman's face, now at an angle where she could see the both of you. She watched with bated breath as you watched Aizawa. Smiling while she huffed out a nose laugh. She recognized that look, looking down at her ring finger, she fiddled with the gold ring. There were rings decorating all her other fingers, but the one on that ring was the first and most important one. She's made that face hundreds of times at her own wife, and only a fool would mistake it for anything else.

“‘UA looks further ahead than other schools’, huh? That’s pretty condescending of you to say Eraser.” Ms. Joke piped up, the two had been going back and forth, but you decided to ignore their banter in favor of anxiously watching the students, afraid. “There are as many kids who want to be heroes as there are stars in the sky. The strength of that will has nothing to do with being famous.” Ms. Jokes face had gone back to being serious, and it made you a little unsettled. The woman, in even the short amount of time you’d known her, had taken everything with a grain of salt. Never the one to take offense to someone's words or actions. But here she was scolding Aizawa. They really were the same. They hide the same deep love and care for their students, and the moment someone says something slightly mean, they pop off.
“If you act like you’re the stars of the show and look down on everyone else, then you’re only showing off your true weakness.”
While her words were true, they seemed a little misplaced. Aizawa constantly humbled the students to remind them that no matter how far they got, they would always have room to grow and improve. Not just in their physical strength, but their mental capabilities as well. Maybe it was about the students themselves? Bakugo and Monoma were the students that popped up in your mind immediately.
“You’re right, we will take your advice and make sure our stars don’t think they’re the only ones who shine.” You nodded, sliding your eyes over to her. She nodded, a small smile on her face. Aizawa looked over at you in a questioning manner.
“Our students are great and all, but sometimes they need to be reminded that they’re not the main character, even if they act like it.” You smiled slightly, easily finding Bakugos yelling from in the arena.
“...Agreed.”

Finally, after what seemed like forever, the test ended. Rubbing sleep from your eyes you walked by Aizawa while he went through the paper work he now needed to fill out.
“You know, I’m starting to see why you’re so tired all the time.” You laughed, tapping the stack of appears in his hands.
He gave an airy laugh, “Sometimes I think they do it on purpose.”
“Well, I can do some it for you. I don’t spend as much time with the kiddos like you do, but I’m sure I could get the hang of it.” You offered, slightly pouting your lips.
“You’d probably mess it up, or mark them in that atrocious pen you have.” He shook his head, tilting the papers away from you.
“Huh?! Why do you have such little faith in me!? I’m trying to be nice, you-” Kaminari was with his usual group of friends, but he was side-eying the two of you, snickering while watching your interaction. “Jerk.”
“Good save.”
“Shaddup.” You punched his arm, snatching some of the papers away from him. “I can do this, no sweat, and I promise to use a normal pen.”
He glared at you, before sighing and shaking his head. “Fine.”
Ms. Joke trotted up to you two and offered to do joint training. Aizawa accepted the offer and walked away, loading all the students onto the bus.
She turned to where you were still standing, trying to organize and smooth out the stolen reports. “My real name is Emi Fukukado, by the way.” She held out a business card in her gloved hand.
You took it appreciatively.
“Thanks!” You introduced yourself in turn, shaking her hand.
“Hey, between us two, you and Eraser would make a pretty cute couple.” Fukukado said nonchalantly, smiling easily.
“Hah?!” You exclaimed, freezing on the spot. Your face grew hot, and you tightened your grip on the jokesters hand.
Fukukado pulled away, smile never going away. “I recognize that look in your eyes when you look at him, and Aizawa doesn’t put up with just anyone you know.” She laughed slightly, putting her hands on her hips. “Trust me, my wife looks at me like that all the time, and we’ve been married about ten years now!”
“Hahhhh?! You’re married?!”
___________________________________________
“You didn’t know? She always wears her wedding ring.” Aizawa sat down heavily beside you on the couch, grunting while he leaned forward.
“She wears like, ten. How would I know?” You shrugged, pulling down the black pen behind your ear, unglittered unfortunately, to continue your journey of legal HPSC papers.
“Didn’t you know her when you were younger?” He raised an eyebrow to you, his dark hair out of his face and into a bun.
“Yeah, but we weren’t friends. It was more like, you’re a young woman in the same male-dominated field as me, if anything goes down we’ll have each other's backs. Not friends friends. I literally just learned what her name is.” You turned your attention to the work, already halfway through your stack, while Aizawa was just starting his.
“Women are weird.” He shook his head and rolled his eyes.
“Oh yeah? You’ve known Hizashi since high school and you still deny you two are literally best friends.” You rolled your eyes, remembering how vehemently Aizawa denied the two literally aren’t two peas in a pod.
“Because we’re not. We’re good friends.” You groaned and flicked a pen cap at him. He growled at you, but otherwise turned back to his work.
“Anyyyways, I still feel kinda bad that Todorki and Bakugo failed. That test was really important, and they’re the only two in 1-A who failed.” You sighed, eyes running over Bakugo’s paper.
“That’s their own fault, if they had seen above their own hubris, they would’ve acted better and passed. They will learn to do better at the retake.” The dark-haired man shook his head, sighing.
“True, it was their own pride that was their downfall.”
“Make sure to mark the date in your calendar, it's about three months from now.” He added nonchalantly, now fully focused on the papers.
You looked up and made a confused face. “Why would I need to, I’m not their homeroom teacher?”
He didn’t respond for a moment, avoiding eye contact. You saw his ears go red slightly at the tips, perking up. “Because you went with me to the first exam, why not help me at the provisional?”
“W-well, I guess. But I won’t be of much help.” You looked away, remembering the words Fukukado told you the other day making you go hot yourself.
You both fell into a comfortable silence, the only sounds now were the ticking clock and the sounds of papers shuffling and pens scraping.
It was nice.

“Wait wait wait-” You were laughing now, holding a hand over your mouth. Hiazshi was smiling at you, and Midnight was shaking her head in disbelief. “He got naked?”
“He didn’t get naked, his quirk made his clothes phase through him. So he ended up naked. There’s a difference.” Aizawa shook his head, sipping his coffee.
You laughed out loud now, leaning on Hizashi’s shoulder while he joined with you.
“I was shocked at first too! I mean, yeow! Everything was out.” That only spurred you on more, tears gathering in your eyes.
“Oh man,” You sighed, wiping away those tears. “I hope they helped him out with his costume, I mean, there’s no way that's safe.” You shook your head, sitting on Hizashi's armchair now.
“They did, they made it out of his hair, so it would phase with him.” He nodded, stuffing food in his mouth. You quirked an eyebrow but ignored it.
“That must’ve taken forever.”
“Yes, it did.” Aizawa butt in, now fully paying attention to the both of you. You couldn’t see Hizashi smirk, but you were caught off guard by such aggressive behavior.
“Oh,” You looked away, now feeling slightly awkward. “What was the point of them visiting, anyway? I mean, not that it’s bad to introduce the classes to the big three, but why now?”
Aizawa sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “To have them talk about the work studies.”
The air in the teacher lounge shifted, now to a tense one. There was a meeting the day before the new term started, an open discussion on whether or not UA students should be allowed to even let them participate in them. Just like the internships, it was a heavily debated argument. You, Aizawa, Snipe, and Anan were against it, saying it well it went last time would only embarrass/harm UA’s reputation further. Nemuri, Sekijiro, Ken, and Ectoplasmi were for it, their reasoning that the students would need the practice. Others fell in between and allowed themselves to be swayed by the opinions of others.
“Oh.” That was all you said.
“Yeah.” That was all he replied with.
When the school day ended, Aizawa met you at home. He angrily kicked off his boots and hung up his capture scarf by the door. You turned around from the sink, hands wet from washing the dishes.
“Hey.”
“Hey.” He looked up at you, standing at the doorway. “I don’t agree.”
“I don’t either.” You turned back, immediately knowing what he was talking about.
When the HPSC had first sent the letter to UA stating they would like the school to participate in the work studies, the teachers erupted in conversation. When the staff didn’t agree, Aizawa stood up an brought all the attention to him.
“Did we forget what happened the first time we allowed our students into the hands of the HPSC? My own students had gone off and could’ve gotten killed. I had no idea, thanks to the lies administered by the commission. Do we need a repeat of that?” He sat back down, looking angrily out at his fellow staff. You stood up beside him.
“I agree, who knows what danger is out there, and we all know from the past that the Hero Commission will just lie to us.”
Snipe nodded in agreement beside you. Ectoplasim stood up. “I assume your classes will have their provisional licenses now? Our students have grown since then, and they now have the ability to make their own calls and decisions.” He rebuttled. This statement only made a fight break out.
In the end, your side lost.
Aizawa was leaning on the counter beside you, hands clutching the counter in a white-knuckled grip. “They lied to us, three students could’ve died.” His voice cracked at the end, face screwed up in anger. You whipped your head at him, looking at him wide-eyed.
You decided not to say anything about his emotions, instead, you dried your hands and turned to him fully.
“Want to spar?” You offered, holding out his goggles. Aizawa stared at them, then stared at you for a long moment. He snatched them up and quickly put them on. Wordlessly, he got back dressed in his hero outfit, and you complied by getting your shared duffle bag and followed him out. You both had decided to share a bag, hey, it would be easier to carry one than two, since you spar so often anyways.

The next few weeks became hell. Immediately something was brewing, you, Aizawa, and other UA students were invited to an important meeting hosted by Sir Night Eye. You’ve heard of him, mostly through what you know about All Might, but you have never really seen him in action. He was a pretty cool dude, if not a little too serious for your liking. You could only deal with one grumpy man in your life, you didn't need to. There were also friends you made through your line of work, like Toyomitsu/FatGum, Takagi/Rock Lock, and Mr. Brave, you never learned his name, interactions were always brief, but friendly.
You mostly just listened in, you didn’t really have any new or helpful information to hand out to aid in the meeting. You had become slightly boring ever since you became a hero at UA, hero work slightly slacking now that tests and assignments stood in your way of aiding your friends. That is why you had an uptick in your sparring matches with Aizawa, no excuse to fall behind.
Takagi spoke up, questioning why your students were here in the meeting. Toyomitsu, in a burst of passion, declared that the students had valuable information to share. He then introduced himself, and when his attention turned to your side of the table, you waved at him happily.
Aizawa looked at you through the corner of his eyes, a small smile on his face. You elbowed him in response, brushing him off. Aizawa was called to speak, and his leg started to bounce from under the table, only you noticed.
“The bullets effects seem to be different from my Eraser. When my quirk is activated, I don’t attack the quirk itself, instead, I temporarily affect the genes themselves, but no permanent or harmful damage is done.”
“Immediately after Takami was shot, we rushed him to the hospital to have him looked at. We found his quirk was deactivated, but thankful after his rest he was returned back to normal.” That was a relief, not only were the effects of the bullet temporary, like Takagi had said, but the effects weren’t harmful in the long run. When it was revealed that the contents of the bullets were filled with human blood, everyone froze. Disgust filled you, wondering what kind of person would do that.
“A man named Kai Chisaki is the young Yakuza head of this group, and is turning his daughter's body and blood to make the bullets.” You had decided to tune back into the conversation at the worst possible moment, or maybe you tuned out during the worst conversations of your life, your body tensing up as horror filled you. Aizawa sat slacked beside you, his eyes widening in horror as well. Tears sprung into your eyes, and your hand immediately flew up to cover your trembling mouth. How..how could anyone do that to a little girl? Let alone their own daughter?
The meeting went on with the same tense and angry energy, people piping up with their own angry opinions. You watched with a feeling that you were floating outside of your body as Nighteye folded more and more into himself. The pressure everyone putting on him only added to the guilt you knew he carried.
The meeting was over late into the afternoon, and packets and folders of information were handed out to all of you. Aizawa was to patrol more in the designated at night, and any possible chance you were to follow yours.
Now you were situated in Aizawa’s car, his hands gripping the steering wheel while you leafed through both folders.
“Lock Rock is right. There’s no need for them to be there.”
“I know.” Your voice was watery, sniffing while you tried not to cry onto the packets. “But we don’t have a choice.”
There was silence when he rolled up to a red. A large hand came into your peripheral, pulling the folders away from you. Aizawa threw them in the back of his car, and you heard them scatter.
“Don’t worry about that now, we can go through them when we get home.” You looked up at him, and while his expression was still guarded and hard, there was something soft hidden in his face. Maybe it was the way his eyebrows were turned up ever so slightly, or his sad eyes, either way, you nodded.
“I just hope we can save that little girl. She’s so small, and she must be so scared.” The light turned green, and he resumed his journey.
“We will, I know we can.”

The next few weeks were hellish, after school you barely saw Aizawa, and he in turn hardly saw you during breaks/lunches/and during the weekends. You worked from sun up to sunset, using as much time as you could. During the day he worked with the others to make sure everyone was updated on information, whereas during the night you caught up on both your school work and added your own information. You left coffee and easy lunches for him to take out, and he left you jelly packets and energy drinks.
Finally, there was one day when both of you were home, lying exhausted on the couch together. You were lying on your back, hands covering your eyes while you rested your legs on his. Aizawa complained at first but made no move to stop you, too focused on his iPad sifting through and adding important information.
“Apparently, Nighteye has picked out people he thinks are assisted with Kai Chisaki. He’ll try to find out more before we move further.” He said out loud, not doing anything to get your attention.
“Good.” Your voice was raspy and tired, flopping your hands down you could barely keep them open. “I’m so tired.” Your voice was filled with pure exhaustion, running on less than thirty hours of sleep for the whole week.
“Me too, I can feel this coming to an end.” You could still hear him clicking away.
“God I hope so, I just want to save her already, I’m starting to see Eri in my goddamn dreams.” You shook your head, tears hotly running down the corner of your eyes. Maybe it was the lack of sleep, or maybe it was because of how emotionally drained you were, but you just couldn’t hold back the floodgates.
You heard Aizawa stop tying, but you didn’t dare look over at him.
“Me too.” His voice was filled with utter grief.
___________________________________________
Finally, it was the day.
Nighteye had found one of Chisaki’s minions and tracked down the spot where they had been keeping Eri. Now everyone had gathered around in a large group, waiting anxiously in the bright early morning for their commands. You were following Aizawa tiredly, energy absolutely sapped out of you. Aizawa walked up to Midorya, who was surrounded by the only other UA students.
“I am moving with the Night Eye agency.” You peeked out from behind the dark man, waving happily at your students, string to hide how tired you were. “Do you understand what that means?”
Midoriya nodded, a hard look on his face. Aaizawa turned back to you, grabbing your shoulder to push you away. “What was that about?” You asked, confused as you turned and waved goodbye.
“He still hasn't earned my trust for running off last time, so I told him I expect him to do things right this time.” He looked down, still walking to get in position.
“You’re such a hardass.” You smiled, shoulders bouncing while you looked away.
“Good, then they stay on their feet and do their best.”
___________________________________________
Chaos quickly erupted outside, and you were stuck batting away villains with clubs of pure light. You swung around your makeshift weapons, filled with electricity and a feeling of burning pain. Police surrounded you, blocking your view of not only the entrance but of your allies.
“This way!” A strong hand grabbed your arm, and you turned and growled. Your guard dropped when you saw Aizawa dragging you inside with him. Quickly, you put as much light as you could in your pockets, quickly closing them so they wouldn’t escape.
“I’m getting kind of worried, man.” Takagi admitted, looking around for any dangers.
“I wonder if anyone leaked information.” Amajiki admitted aloud, but the chief rebuttled him.
“If they had, one would think they’d be smarter to avoid us.”
“They all should be used to working together already, a bond formed through devotion to their boss. They might feel ashamed now, Chisaki and the top brass haven't even shown themselves yet. They’re probably underground getting ready to flee or hide right now.” Aizawa pipped in. All of you were still running down the impossibly long hallway, hearts racing as one.
“No, there’s no way. That villain busted out the doorway as soon as the chief rang the doorbell, no one just does that. Plus, with how big these guys sound, there's no way they’d just leave.” You shook your head, mind swarming with what was to happen. Kirishima looked over to you, conflicted on whether to agree with his homeroom teacher or his history teacher.
“Either way, we’ll take them down.” He decided to say, not favoring either theory.
Suddenly, Nighteye skidded to a halt, stopping in front of an indent in a wall. He seamlessly opened a secret door, and everyone was thankful for his foresight.
Three henchmen popped out of the darkness, trying to take the group by surprise. However, they were unable to be successful with Bubble Girls and Centipeder's quick thinking. They stayed back with Nighteye’s order to make sure they didn’t come after your group, and you rushed down a concrete hallway, only to be halted by a dead end.
Takagi called out to Nighteye in anger, but Midorya and Kirishima quickly resolved the problem by kicking through the thick wall that had been placed up. The room suddenly became less solid and started shaking around in an ocean. Panic filled the room as it rolled and changed around you, shoving you all around. You, Aizawa, and Toyomitsu formed a triangle.
“Eraser, can’t you get rid of it?” Takagi yelled out, but Aizawa just shook his head.
“Not if I can’t see the main body.” He called out, voice strained as he fought off nausea.
“We need to hurry!” Your voice wobbled as you tried to find steady ground, “If they’re changing the building, then they can escape before we can even get to the end of the hallway!” You tried to step forward, but the mere action of moving knocked you off kilter, so you stood, fighting off gravity as you tried to move. You have to try!
The room stopped moving as violently, and Lemillion took action to run ahead, moving through another hall. You wished you could follow him, try and at least be there for the kid. A scream ripped out of your throat as the ground under you disappeared. You landed on your stomach, the breath knocked out of you on the dirty floor. Aizawa heaved you up, looking around and assessing the situation.
Three villains made themselves known, launching themselves at Amajiki. Eraser quickly stepped up, erasing the blonde quirk before he could do serious damage to the kid.
“Suneater-!” You called out, trying to stop his stupidly brave act.
“Go! I’ve got it.” He turned to you all, nodding towards another hallway, the others ran ahead, but Midoirya, Aizawa, and you staggered for a moment.
“Make sure you tie them up, my quirk will wear off soon.” He jogged off, the green-haired boy behind his teacher.
You nodded at him. “I believe in you, do your best.” You nodded at him before following your companion. Quickly you lost Toyomitsu and Kirishma, as they were sucked into and trapped in another room.
“We have to keep going, there's no time.” Aizawa pulled you forward, trying to get you to keep moving.
“I know, it just feels like we’re purposely being split apart.” You followed him, worry filling your entire being.
Takagi locked the room in place as soon as it started to move again, even if it was a tight fit, it allowed you all to push forward.
“Stand back, he’s coming from the places I haven't locked down.” Takagi held out a hand to stop you all from moving forward, and you watched as the end of the hallway rushed towards you all.
Midorya rushed again, kicking away an entrance point. The path never cleared, so the young boy continued his assault. The wall immediately retracted, clearing away the path for you.
“What the hell..?” You wondered but were quickly cut off by the room changing once more, separating the main group into smaller groups. You were stuck with Aizawa and Midorya.
The wall dropped again, revealing two Takagi’s, and you stood in confusion between the two of them. Aizawa was fast and quickly attacked the fake Takagi before it could attack Midoriya. Himiko Toga was forcefully revealed, squealing while she chased after the boy. As effortlessly as he could, he dragged the crazed girl away, but not without getting stabbed in the shoulder.
Once more the room shifted, and tunnels of dirt and concrete erupted from the walls, you all looked around widely, trying to see where the dirt was coming from. Midoriya took action almost immediately, shooting up to kick where he thought Mimic was. The boy revealed the villain, and in an instant he erased his quirk, watching him fall to his death.
“The League betrayed them?” Aizawa questioned looking out to where the two voices had come from.
“Seems so, and they used us to aid in their scheming. Though, at least we're on solid ground now.” Nighteye adjusted his glasses, looking forward to the dark hallway, police officers scattered around.
You took a moment to recap and interrogate Irinaka, but that led him into an angry frenzy.
“As officers of the law, we cannot let them escape.” The chief held up his gun, his underlings looking around as well.
“It sounded like they were escaping, we should focus on our top priority for now instead of going into a circle.” You said, looking around. Takagi agreed with you, deciding to split up the pros with the mission and the police with the League. He decided to stay, you pulled out a small knife, handing it to him.
“Just in case.” He nodded, face still screwed up in pain.
His speech renewed the hope in your heart, you and Aizawa shared a glace and immediately ran ahead to save Eri, trying to catch up before it was too late.
Following in Midorya's shadow, he bounced ahead of the villain lying on the ground, smashing the wall in front of the group. There a sight for only the strong-hearted was seen, Chisaki and Togata were already engaged in battle, with the electric blonde already having a considerable amount of damage. Aizawa immediately yelled out commands, ordering you to round up the fallen villains. Already quickly rounding up the three villains, you were hit in Chisaki order to Chrono. Aizawa called out to Midoriya, but his body screwed back to look at you. You grunted in pain, feeling like your body was put under molasses. Chrono had gotten straight through your side, cutting a clean medium-sized hole in your midsection. And before anyone could stop him, or help him, Aizawa blinked.
The ground erupted in spikes, sending you flying through the air. Thankfully, you landed in a hole in the ground before you could get caught by the spikes. Aizawa and Chrono were already down there, the latter of the two setting atop Aizawa. Both of you were practically paralyzed, with Aizawa immediately incapacitated by his quirk. He spent the time monologuing about Chisaki, explaining the relationship that Eri had with the others in the Yakuza. Shut the hell up you scum. You couldn’t even growl out loud. Straining as you tried to get him, you were behind the two, and he must not have even realized you were down here. You heard Aizawa grunting as he slowly moved away, you watched as Chrono took out Aizawa’s own knife, opening and getting ready to stab the man with it.
You took out a small piece of light from earlier, the electric gold energy lighting up the dark room.
“Huh?” He looked around to see you, and in one fell swoop, you slashed along his Achilles heels. “You bitch.” He groaned out, dropping the knife to clutch at his heels. At the same time, Amajiki appeared, stabbing his arm with one of his food quirks. There you saw the teenage boy surrounded by police officers, guns ready. He just glared at them in defeat.
The officers helped you up, someone pulled down the bandages on Aizawa's face, and he quickly removed the effects of the quirk. You were taken in an ambulance and Aizawa was taken up to the ground floor.
“Wait! I can still help!” You tried to squirm out of their grasp, but Aizawa shook his head ‘no.’ Tears sprung in your eyes, did you do bad? You did your best. Still, you were forced into an ambulance.
___________________________________________
You were in and out of consciousness the first day, one part of the injury, but mostly out of laziness. Lack of sleep finally caught up to you, forcing you to pay your debts. Still, it wasn’t like you were out of it, you could hear voices, smell the clean hospital air, feel the thin sheets below you, and taste your dry mouth. Different types of voices visited you, your friends, you recognized dimly. But there was one who stayed as long as they could, and whenever they spoke, you turned your head to them, smiling and appreciating the smooth bass. A large and warm hand felt your forehead, then checked your cheek. But their touch lingered on your cheek, gently cupping the part of your face.
“Hmm, s’warm.” You mumbled, not really awake as you squished your face further in the hand.
“So weird.” But they never pulled away.
___________________________________________
The next day, you were fully awake, still in a little bit of pain. Thanks to quirks and advanced medical technology, your wound was mostly closed. It was still tender to the touch, and still able to open, but as long as you were careful, you’d be fine.
Now you were hungrily inhaling the food the nurse had dropped off, Aizawa watching you in muted disgust.
“Wha’?” Your mouth was still full, flakes of rice and meat juice surrounded your mouth.
“You eat like you’re an animal and not a fully grown woman.” He shook his head, eyeing you like you were gonna eat him next.
“I’m hungry dick!” Still, you wiped your mouth with the back of your hand, eating more delicately. Aizawa rolled his eyes but stopped to watch his hands.
“I have a favor to ask of you.” He didn’t look at you.
You wanted to tease him, but there was something about his demeanor that made you hesitate. “Yeah, what do you need.” You set down your food, gently sitting up to stare at him.
“The little girl, Eri, her quirk is unstable and dangerous.” Aizawa looked up now, reaching behind him to grab a small packet of papers. He handed them to you, continuing to talk. “So is her emotional state, there’s no telling when she’ll get upset and activate her quirk.”
Multitasking, you opened the folder while listening to him Rewind. She can rewind the state of a person, down to nothing. You looked up with worried eyes.
“She’ll need someone who can stop it, and watch over her.” His words hung heavy in the air, and he was tense now, leaning forward with his elbows on his knees.
“Of course, what will you do with her?” He still hadn’t relaxed, hands clenching.
“I was thinking that she could live with us. We could watch over her.” Your eyes widened, mouth parting slightly.
“I-why me? I’m not exactly mother material.” You laughed nervously, looking at him confused. Why does he have to rope you into everything he does? Would you even be good enough to watch over the girl?
“She doesn’t need a mother, she needs someone to help her. And I..we live together, so it makes the most sense.” He shrugged, leaning back in his chair. Yet he was still tense, but why?
You looked down at your own hands, looking over her patient file. She was a traumatized little girl who needed help.
“What i…-what if I mess something up, what if I’m not good enough?” You voiced your concern, voice wavering already. When did you get so emotional?
“You won’t be doing it alone, I’ll be there.” Aizawa's voice was soft, comforting you. You looked up at him, staring into his soft eyes.
“But why me?”
“Because it’s always you.”

You, as well as the other students, were released from the hospital not too long after the raid. The drive home was silent, both of you sleepy for different reasons. You were getting used to not sleeping all day, and Aizawa was exhausted from watching over Eri all night. Even if Aizawa never put on the radio, even if you hit every red light, even if the late-night roads were quiet, neither of you spoke about what he said in the hospital. Not even when you were in the hospital.
Tiredly you both made it back home, stumbling in the dark room.
“Aizawa wait.” You held out a hand, getting his attention while he poured his cup of coffee. You turned to him, “Where is she gonna sleep? There’s only two rooms.”
Aizawa gave you a blank face, overpouring his cup, hot coffee spilling out from his hand and to the floor.
“Aizawa.” You repeated, his face still blank.
___________________________________________
“I could sleep in the living room.” Aizawa offered, both of you had your hair up/out of your way as you looked around the shared living space.
“Well that’s not fair to you, I’ll just sleep in the living room. You can keep the big room, which I still haven’t gotten over, by the way, and she gets the smaller room. You’ll be right there for her and I can just hang out.” Your hands on your hips while you stared out into the living room, staring down at the beige couch.
“I shouldn’t let you take the living room.” He shook his head, shooting down the idea immediately.
“Why not?”
“One, because you’re a slob.” Aizawa looked over to you, “Two you have far too much stuff, and three you’re a woman.”
“Okay one, kiss my ass.” You faced him as well, crossing your arms. “And what does me being a girl have to do with anything?” You gave him a dirty look.
“Oh don’t look at me like that, I mean, if anyone needs their own space it should be you.” He waved you off, turning around to head into the kitchen.
“Well, Eri above anyone needs her own room, sooo…” You shook your head at him, giving him a look while he rustled through the cabinets. You thought for a moment, and a terrible idea came up in your head. Aizawa looked over at you, jelly pouch hanging out of your mouth.
“What terrible idea do you have.” He looked at you warily, still hanging into the snack through his teeth.
You shook your head, making a disgusted face.
“What?” He prodded.
“You’re not gonna like it, I don’t even like it, but we could share your room. We could buy another bed and separate the room into two.” You slowly lifted your hands in a questioning manner, your voice high.
Aizawa stared at you, one of his eyes raising in an annoyed look. “That’s a terrible idea.”
“Well, what other idea do you have?”
He looked around, thinking for a moment before he groaned very loudly. “You just want to have the bathroom in the room, don’t you?”
“I’m merely making the conscious decision for the both of us considering your situation.” You held your hands up in a non-accusing way, trying to fake some sort of innocence.
“Fine.” He grunted, turning around to wash the dishes in the sink. You tried to ignore the implications of what sharing a room meant, far more intimate than sharing a home. Walking past, you willfully ignored his blushing ears.
___________________________________________
Aizawa’s time was spent between watching over Eri and working as a teacher. So you didn't see him often for a while, whereas you were suck with redecorating and adjusting your home. You started off slow, just buying kid shit for her, like books, stuffed animals, and cubbies. But when it came time to put together said cubbies and bookshelves you let them build up, and you very pointedly ignored moving the beds. Aizawa was too busy for you to ask, and you sure as hell couldn't, or was it wouldn't, who knows, do it all by yourself. So you called the one man who you knew would help you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“No lift with your legs.”
“I am lifting with my legs! Hurry up jackass, I’m gonna drop the bed on my foot!” You groaned with the effort, damning yourself for wanting such a heavy frame.
Snipe sighed, rolling his eyes at you while he backed up. He had one hand holding the bottom of the sideways bed, the other supporting the top. Ever so gently he led you out of your old room and into Aizawa’s room.
“Okay ready? I’m gonna set it down, and you have to do it with me.” He looked back at you, his sharp eyes piercing.
“Yup.” Your voice was strained, trying not to drop the bed. Following his lead, you turned the bed slowly and dropped it. You sighed, leaning over on your knees while you caught your breath. “Fuck.” Looking up, the bed was in the middle of the room, and you needed to shove it to the other side of the room, opposite to Aizawa’s
“I got it.” Snipe waved you away, immediately going to drag the bed in place.
“Thanks.”
You knew Snipe would answer your call, often times you hung out outside of work, and on the rare times he hosted an outing, you went with him. He stood back up, the muscle shirt he was wearing doing wonders for his body, showing off his toned arms and flashing you his exposed sides. And for a man whose quirk was a gun, he sure as hell did have a slutty waist.
“Alright break time.” You walked out of the room, Snipe following you with laughter.
“We’ve barely started.”
“And now it’s break time.” You filled up two cups of water, handing one to him. Your hands brushed briefly, his course fingertips quickly ghosting over yours. There was a beat of silence, he made direct eye contact while he took a sip from his cup.
It’s not like you haven't thought about it, even before Snipe showed his face you knew he’d be hot under there. It was sometime after the final exams in the first term, he had been retelling the embarrassing story of his run-in with Hagakure. You had laughed at him loudly in the warm night air, tears springing to your eyes. You could feel his eyes on you, even if you couldn’t see them.
“Why do you wear your mask all the time?” You asked out loud after calming down. He stared ahead, and instead of responding he just tugged it off.
He looked at you with brilliant grey eyes, little targets in them. He had dark and thick eyebrows, long pretty eyelashes, and his full lips pulled in a smirk. Across his face was a gnarly scar, it looked like he had been slashed at an angle across, leaving behind a slightly raised thick wound.
“You’re face is a little lighter than your body.” You said stupidly, brain short-circuiting.
He just laughed and looked back out into the courtyard.
“I know.”
You cleared your throat, willing away all of the not-very-safe-for-work thoughts that filled your head.
“I have to wonder, why are you and Aizawa sharing a room?” Snipe sat on the table, leaning back to watch you. His thick thighs were highlighted when he sat down, shorts leaving nothing to the imagination, and you swore he widened them when he caught you looking. Damn these slutty men.
“It’s nothing like that,” You waved him away. “Have you heard about the little girl that's going to be living here?” He nodded.
“Her name is Eri, and her quirk is unstable, so Aizawa has guardianship over her so she doesn’t accidentally kill someone. Which means that she’s gonna live with him, which means she’s gonna live with us.” You sighed.
“But why does that equate to you and Aizawa sharing a room?” He waved an arm, looking at you curiously.
“If I didn’t know any better, I would think that you’re jealous, Snipe.” You smirked, but it dropped. “Eri immediately gets a room, that’s a given, but I wanted Aizawa close by, but he thought it’d be inappropriate for me to sleep out here. So now we’re bunking together.”
Snipe hummed, closing his eyes and looking away. But out of the corner of his eyes he peeked at you. “You could always spend the night at my place if you need, Sejikiro doesn’t mind guests over, since he’s usually out.”
Before you could respond, a presence made themselves known.
“That’s completely inappropriate.” Aizawa snapped, holding a bag of groceries.
“Hey, Aizawa.” Snipe turned in his direction, waving hello.
“Why are you here?” He greeted back.
“He helped me move my bed, and he’s helping me put together the bookcases and Eri’s bed.” You peeked over, looking at him. Aizawa was just angrily looking at Snipe, who was staring back.
“You couldn’t have asked me?” He was pissed at you now?
“You’ve been busy.” You shrugged, stepping out to try and cool the angry man.
“I would’ve helped, you just needed to ask.” Aizawa growled out. “Now I’m here, so you,” He looked over to Snipe, who was just lazily watching the whole conversation, “Can get out now.” Aizawa sidestepped the door, motioning for him to leave.
“I’m already here now, plus if we all three work together, I’m sure it’ll go by quickly.” He tried to soothe the stern teacher.
“I’m sure you’re very busy, get out.” Neither Aizawa nor Snipe moved, silently challenging one another.
Snipe got up without a word, and on his way out he turned to you. “Call me whenever you need help, you have my number.” He waved goodbye, Aizawa slamming the door in his face.
“What the hell was that?” You asked in disbelief, watching the man you lived with as he strutted across the room. He threw the bags on the groaned, angrily opening the edge door to shove the food in there. “Hello?” You got closer, standing right behind him.
“I didn’t know you were calling other men to come by our house alone. You can’t do this when Eri comes in.” He was basically throwing in the food now, the poor grapes and carrots chucked to the back.
“Like Snipe isn’t our friend, what was going to happen? He helped me move the bed.” You were leaning over him now, anger now filling you. It’s been a while since you fought, the song and dance you both created had shifted over time.
“He’s your friend, not mine.” Aizawa stood up. “Plus, anything he did I could’ve done easily, there was no reason to call him. I live here too.” Aizawa got in your face, glowering.
“You’ve been busy. I’m not going to bother you-”
“It wouldn’t be a bother! All I’ve been doing is making sure Eri’s healing process goes as scheduled, nothing I couldn’t have left to help you.”
Both of you just stood there, breathing angrily in each other's spaces, chest to chest.
“Why do you care so much? Aren’t you happier that I’m taking the work off your hands?” You asked, anger ebbing away.
Aizawa said nothing in response, looking away slightly ashamed.
“Because I don’t like other people in my house.” Bull.
“What about Nemuri or Hizashi? You have no problem with them coming over? Or Anan and Sejikiro?” You asked, genuinely confused.
His shoulders slumped, eyebrows slightly going up. “It’s different.”
“How? In what way?”
Aizawa’s tired eyes looked at you, and you realized what Fukukado was talking about.
“I recognize that look in your eyes when you look at him..”
“It just is, if you need my help, you can just call me. I’ll be there.”
___________________________________________
The first thing you noticed was how small she was, and how stringy and thin her hair was.
You were sitting in the hallway of the front door, wearing a Hello Kitty jacket and baggy sweatpants. Eri was clutching onto Aizawa’s hand painfully, but he made no move to pull away.
“Hey, little one.” You made no movement, both you and Aizawa letting her decide what to do. He was just staring at her, gauging her reactions.
She said your name, asking whether or not you were you.
“Yes I am, did Mr. Aizawa tell you I was a hero?” You asked softly, smiling at her. She nodded, one hand on her face.
“And I’m going to be living with you too?”
“Yes ma’am.” You nodded dutifully.
“Why, uhm..” Her voice got quiet, and she mumbled into her hand. Aizawa crouched down, getting on her level. He whispered something in her ear, and she nodded shyly. She turned back to you, big eyes filling with tears. “Why didn’t you see me in the hospital?” She asked, looking down while her voice wavered. In turn, your eyes filled with tears, guilt ripping you open. You swallowed away your tears and leaned forward.
“I’ve been busy getting your room all ready for you. Remember when Mr. Aizawa asked what your favorite animals and colors were?” You asked.
She turned back, eyes widening as she nodded.
“Well, want to go see?” She nodded enthusiastically again. You slowly got up, holding a hand out for her to grab. She did gratefully, but she never let go of Aizawa’s forcing you to walk side by side as you walked to her room.
You opened the door, and she gasped, running in and looking excitedly at everything. You and Aizawa watched in adoration as she squealed, never moving from the doorway.
You looked over at him and saw he was already staring at you.
“What?” You asked, laughing while a bashful blush spread across your face.
“You’ll do great, I don’t understand why you were so worried.” He shook his head, a small smile on his own face, ears burning hot.
You exhaled out of your nose, smiling as you turned back to Eri, who was watching you two. She just slowly crawled up to you two, slowly hugging both of your legs. Her grip became tight, and you and Aizawa shot each other’s worried looks.
“What’s wrong honey?”
“Eri is something wrong?”
She looked up to you two, face red and eyes watery. “You guys are like mommy and daddies.” She sniffed, “I promise I won’t hurt you.”
You frowned deeply, eyes filling up again with tears. Aizawa started to blink rapidly, inhaling deeply as he looked up.
“Oh Eri, you could never hurt us. I promise to protect you.” You hugged her tiny frame, soothing her shaking. Aizawa joined you, hugging her just as tight.
“We’ll always be here for you, alright?”
That was a promise neither of you would break, no matter what happened.
Traintober 2024: Day 30 - Oncoming Storm
The Coastal Run:
Tumblr media
Glynn the Coffee Pot watched as the new engine for the branchline bustled about the yard, shunting trucks into place. His regulator sounded wobbly. “My own branchline, the Fat Director says,” huffed Thomas. “And yet there’s you old tin urn here telling me what to do. It’s not mine if there’s another engine!” Glynn could only chuckle. Edward had warned him about Thomas’ cheek and temper, and he was well used to the behaviour of the loaned engines who stormed about the mainline liked they owned the place.
In comparison to them, Thomas was a saint!
Still, there was one thing Glynn had to explain to Thomas before he could get any grumpier. Or before his regulator gave in; he really ought to mention that to Thomas. “It’s only until you’re settled in,” reminded Glynn politely. “Especially with storm season incoming.” “What does some bad weather had to do with anything?” snorted Thomas. “We had storms at Vicarstown and those never stopped trains.” “Oh no,” agreed Glynn. “Trains must get through no matter what. The big issue is the land around here isn’t stable. Knapford, Elsbridge, Dryaw and Toryreck are all built on reclaimed land from the old River Els marsh – it used to be one of the largest north of Liverpool. Rainwater normally drains out via the remaining marsh on the other bank, however during particularly bad weather, there are sometimes floods. It’s your responsibility as this branchline’s engine to look after the line when that happens.”
“Pah!” snorted Thomas, glaring out at the river. “It’s just some stupid water. What’s it going to do to an engine as big as me?” “You should not be so dismissive of heavy rain and flooding,” said Glynn crossly. “It’s very dangerous. You know… the mainline didn’t always go through Knapford tunnel.” Thomas raised an intrigued eyebrow. “Go on…”
“Oh yes,” hummed Glynn. “When we were built, the line only came as far as the abandoned harbour here. But the same company that had dredged the marsh here was invested in building a rail line to get the lead out of the mines. They had us built, and a line built around the headland.”
Glynn rolled forwards, leading Thomas through the yard to a set of points beyond the station. One set of lines continued straight along the mainline while another veered to the left, only continuing a very short distance before dipping down into weed-ridden ballast.
“Today, it’s a set of trap points to keep trains from heading for the tunnel, but back then it was our route to Tidmouth. It was a much longer journey, going right the way around along the craggiest and most difficult cliffs on Sodor. I hated taking my trains along that line; I always felt uneasy when I had to take my lead trains along that line. My siblings felt the same. One day, an oncoming storm had us all scrambling to prepare the line. One of my brothers had to get the last load of lead out to the harbour, and set off just as it began to rain. The rain lashed against the island, unleashing fury upon Sodor and dumping rain down by the lake-full. It was an absolutely horrible storm. Out on the line, my brother was doing his best to struggle against the buffeting rain and howling wind. Or at least… he was.”
Thomas gasped, realisation striking. “He…” “Wiped right off the side of the island with his train and most of the track. It was all swept away in the blink of an eye. Afterwards, a young Mr Topham Hatt helped build a railway through the hills, connecting the two towns and avoiding the cliffs.”
Tumblr media
Glynn sighed, going back to his shunting. “I miss him so much. I loved my brother, and now he’d gone.”
Thomas sighed. He didn’t really believe in the idea of sympathy – likely a result of his upbringing. “Well, it’s done now,” he replied. “Let’s just do our best to keep my branchline smoothly. Do you know when that train bound for the Big Station is?” “Half past four,” replied Flynn easily. “But I’d be careful. The wind’s changed – a storm’s inbound.” Thomas scoffed. “Just because you felt some wind, doesn’t mean we’re about to get battered. And if we are, then don’t we have a job to do?”
Glynn couldn’t disagree with that. All through the rest of the day they worked hard, and as Glynn predicted, the weather began to change. Distant thunder rumbled as Thomas made his way up to the mine to collect his lead trucks bound for the Big Harbour. The first few fat raindrops fell as the little blue tank engine entered the mine, cold and wet and leaving dark splotches on the ground.
Tumblr media
It only grew heavier as Thomas banged the trucks together. His regulator had begun to play up, leaving him irritable. He finished arranging his train, and set out into the oncoming storm. Rain buffeted the tank engine as he struggled on, each wheel turn struggling for grip against the rails. Wind howled and shrieked around him; branches were ripped off and flung into Thomas’ side tanks while a few stray roofing tiles were dragged from their spots and dropped onto the lineside with a smash.
Thomas was beginning to understand why Glynn hated the bad weather. Worse yet, none of the line were clearly visible, and the signals were barely any help. Thomas was still not used to this part of the island, and he just couldn’t make anything out in the driving rain and fog.
He rumbled through a station, and heard the roar of the sea being whipped up into a frothing monster by the storm. “That must mean we’re near Knapford,” suggested Thomas’ driver; he had to shout to be heard over the rain.
The train rumbled through the junction – or what might have been the junction, Thomas wasn’t sure. At the end of the station, they veered to the left, and the thunderous roar of the sea grew even louder. Thomas wasn’t sure where they’d ended up at all – but he hated it. The train was entirely exposed to the elements here, not even a few trees able to provide the slightest bit of cover. It almost sounded like he was running right on the coast – but that was impossible! The line ran through the tunnel.
Thomas struggled on, wheels slipping furiously as he tried to find at least the tunnel to shelter in. Anything would have been better than where he was. His wheels slipped again, and his driver rushed to stop the train from faltering. He moved too fast. Thomas’ regulator groaned, and with a clunk, slammed shut and jammed.
“Damnit!” groaned Thomas’ driver. “What will we do about the train?” “We have more immediate problems!” yelped the fireman. The two peered out of the cab to see the waves getting higher and higher, sea spray splashing against Thomas. It threatened with every crash against the rocks to rip the line right from the side of the hill!
Thomas felt queasy. “I don’t like this!” he shouted. “Get me out of here! Please!”
Suddenly, a whistle pierced through the roar of rain and sea. An engine bumped into their brakevan; Thomas could have cried in relief. The engine sounded just like Glynn! The engine dug its wheels into the rails and began shoving the train forwards. The minutes felted like an eternity, passing far too slowly. Thomas and his crew held their breath and prayed, both driver and fireman trying desperately to unstick the regulator.
And then, there was a bump. Thomas looked down, and could have whistled in surprise!
“Points?!”
Just behind them was the tunnel. Thomas’ crew did a double take, and fell against the regulator in shock. The bump jarred it back into motion, and Thomas shunted back violently, coming to a stop just inside the tunnel before his regulator gave out again.
Thomas thought he could just make out the shape of a Coffee Pot heading back down the weird coastal route.
A second whistle sounded out, and Glynn appeared in the mouth of the other tunnel bore. “Thomas! Thank goodness I found you! Where have you been?!” “Wait – Glynn? But weren’t you—” Thomas cut off with a gasp. He had a sinking feeling he knew exactly what had happened.
His suspicions were only confirmed when – to his horror – he found that there was no set of points beyond the tunnel. Glynn watched on, worried. “There were points here!” Thomas spluttered. “And a coastal run! I was nearly swept away!” “Thomas, the coastal run was destroyed nearly two decades ago. I don’t know what you saw,” replied Glynn for the fifth time.
But Thomas just couldn’t believe him. Not when he’d witnessed it for himself.
Still Waters (Run Deep)
The water parts around you, swirling and shifting as you pick apart the threads of memory you have chosen to comb through today. Something pulls the edges of your attention, lifting you out of your self imposed work. You huff and the air leaving your lungs propels you further up, away from the smell of your childhood home and the sound of your brother’s attempts at playing the piano. As the bubbles cloud your vision and the pressure of the zee and of time fades, the melody changes. It becomes louder. It sways from a piano to a violin. It is just as familiar as the memory of your brother, and you breathe fully for the first time in weeks.
You lay on the surface of the water, staring at the cosmogone sky as a girl casts her shadow across your face. She plays her song, impressions of your past meetings with her washing over you in waves. Nowadays you don’t have much to talk about. She came to you often, at the beginning, when she first sensed your presence. You brought news of her father and she made you write promises into the cresting water all around you. You could see them still, if you waved your hand just so in the water. But you have said all that needs to be said, and so has she. The company is comforting either way.
Minutes, hours, perhaps days later, you feel a string pull at the centre of your chest. Your hand reaches under your own shirt, brushing against the set of stones encased in the necklace that sits snugly against your neck. They beat a warm rhythm into your skin, like they did only once before, here in the Is-Not, and the water stills around you. It creates a perfectly clear mirror to the sky above for just a moment, before the perfect immobility is broken by skipping words across the cosmogone hue.
Your throat feels tighter, with each new sentence. Lenore stands with you in the whirlpool of memories that are whipped up by the words, the eye of a storm of your own making.
Shared touches brush across your skin-
 A wave of worry flows up the length of your chest-
The lights of the bridge when he chased after you like no one ever had-
Closed curtains as he finds your arms after his hands had crafted a new order for the world-
His embrace, the first thing you felt after your body breathed anew-
The incredible privilege to see his mind at work-
I love you.
I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you.
“I think this is where we part ways, my dear,” you say an epoch later, when the storm has died down and the words have long been blown away by the wind.
“Yes, I think so too,” she answers. Her music plays on but it is fainter now as she holds her suitcase and gazes out towards where it feels like land is. “A ship should come by, but I don’t think you’re going to wait.”
“Absolutely not. It’s about time that I stretch my legs, I think. A walk would be nice.”
The zee ripples as she laughs, looking up at your face as you stand just out of reach.
“You’re going back then?”
“I am.”
“That’s good.” She is quiet for a long while, both of you lingering and putting off the inevitable. “Take care of dad for me. One last promise.”
You turn to face her, tracing the features you have come to know so well. She looks like him. You think that you might have enjoyed meeting her when she was more than a memory.
“Of course. My skills are at his disposal, he knows this,” you say and watch her tilt her head, dipping into images of the times you offered something much more meaningful than skills to her father. “Alright, alright. I promise.”
A gust of wind carries your words away but you know now that they will remain. Someone will remember, somehow. As you gaze upon her one last time, the echo of your steps already moving across the surface of the zee, homeward bound, you hum the last notes of her endless melody.
All is quiet, here at the end.
“Be well, Emon.”
“And you rest easy, Lenore.”
A sort of response, sort of follow-up to @zeebreezin's last piece of writing, aka Shaw's letters as he set off to finish his Ambition. it absolutely knocked me on my feet and I needed to try to match the energy. and I suppose this means that Emon is on their way out of Parabola now!
Hello! Could you write some HCs about going on vacation with Fenrys? Thank you!!
Waterfall
It would feel so surreal. Like waking up with nothing to do, no need to quickly get dressed and rush out the door. It's a gift to every single one of you from Aelin. A little chance to just forget about everything for a bit and relax. Recharge. Finally have a chance to spend time with significant others or family.
You and Fenrys decide to go to one of the cabins in the mountains. The day starts early because the climb is quite long yet you two aren't bothered by it. There's no rush to get there. And it's so soothing. The morning is still young. Birds are singing their morning tunes. There's the sound of a waterfall somewhere in the distance. Morning sunshine rays are seeping through the trees. It's so peaceful so beautiful.
You don't use your fea speed nor does Fenrys shift into his wolf form. You two are strolling down the stone path hand in hand. Fenrys is softly rubbing his thumb over your palm. He's the one carrying the bag you two had packed because well fea males, and he refused to let you lift even a finger while at it.
"What do you want to do when we get there?", Fenrys breaks the silence after a while, pulling you closer to him. "I packed a couple of books that I've been dying to get to", you hum, the thrill of getting to do something without being distracted. Plus if Rowan wasn't making it all up there should be a swinging chair on the patio and that accompanied by a big throw when the evening gets colder sounded like an absolute dream.
"I was thinking about something more active ", Fenrys sighs, "Like what? We're already hiking to get there", you stated calmly. Fenrys wiggled his eyebrows before stepping in front of you. "Oh, you horny little shit", you roll your eyes at him, shaking your head. "I've been denied for a week", he nearly cries out, "It's harmful to my overall health", he wines as you can't help but laugh at him, "If two days equal a week in your book, we are living in different concepts of time", you gently tap him onto his shoulder before pushing past him.
You knew well that this time away would unleash the neediest parts of Fenrys. He had always loved physical touch. It reassured him. Grounded him. So when busier spells pulled you two apart he always grew uneasy. His anxiety spiked and he got more frustrated. But you loved giving him love and making sure that his needs for closeness were met. So having him pressed to your side or sleeping on your chest for more than half of the day was more than fine by you. It meant that he trusted you. That he felt safe in your presence.
You felt him behind you, just didn't expect him to swap you off your feet as he twirled you around. With a little yelp, you wrapped your arms around Fenry's neck. "Put me down", you wiggled in his arms but his hold on you only tightened. "No, you need to rest for a bit", he stated firmly. Fighting him was near to impossible so settled in his embrace for now.
Then that same waterfall came into view. The specs of water glistening in the warm sun. Fenrys stilled as you two admired the view. It's been so long since you two came out here. So long since you two were younglings running around the forest. So long since Fenrys had kissed you here for the very first time.
"Should we take a dip?", you ask and Fenrys quickly lowers you to the ground. It feels surreal that he is here. Free of Maeve. Free of all the burdens. No longer chained and broken. No. He's brought back to life. You gently kiss the side of his neck before your fingers move to undo the buttons of his shirt. Fenrys freezes for a moment but the warmth of you brings him right back.
You don't talk while you two carefully undress one another. Soft, feather-like kisses are placed all over the exposed skin. Until you're there both naked and you cup Fenrys's face as you bring him closer for a soft kiss.
"A race to the water like the good old days?", you ask and Fenrys lets out a snort. "You still think you can beat me at it?", he teases and you let yourself smirk. With a quick tap on his bum you, take off running. Squealing when you hear a growl leave Fenrys's lips as he too darts your way. You quickly look back, frowning when you don't see him behind you and then you feel the same little spank on your bum before Fenrys is darting in front of you, leaping into the jump. Water splashes everywhere as he hits it.
The sensation is like no other. The cold water makes the blood rush faster in your system and the silence stops the world for just a second before you're brought back to the surface. Fenrys is already swimming closer to you, grinning because once again he had beaten you to it. His arms sneak around your waist as he pulls you closer to him. "Give up trying, sweetie", he purrs and you roll your eyes, "In your dreams, sweetie", you mock his tone slightly before wrapping your arms around him.
Fenrys kisses the side of your head as he moves you to sit more comfortably in his embrace, one hand coming up to brush away the strands of wet hair away from your face, "I love you", he mutters and you turn to meet his eyes, "I love you too", you nuzzle your nose against his softly. "Thank you for being my forever", your eyes gloss over slightly as you crash your lips to his, breathing him in and knocking all oxygen away from Fenrys's lungs, "I would have clawed my way to you, wolf", "I know and that's why I love you".
Wednesday writing -
I love your stuff sooooo much 😍 makes my week. Hopefully you're having a good one.
I would be happy with anything but I really want to see some wooing/surprised at how far the other is wing to go along with them! Like Magnus taking care of amnesia Alec, or magnus getting drawn in by Alec in the adoration vs. Heck even others being surprised by this too.
Honestly I'm just going to be happy with anywhere your muse goes but just give me some emotions! You're so good at it.
Hey! Thank you for the compliment and the well wishes! This week is doing much better than last thank you! I hope you’re having a good week!
I hope you enjoy this, it’s in all my fears forgotten
I hope these are enough emotions, let me know if you want more
💜 lumine
Magnus looks over the files that have been sent to him with a frown before he finally decides on his course of action.
Out of the half a dozen files that came through, only one is Magnus positive that Alexander would feel comfortable with.
It’s with an easy conscience that he signs over his consorts Institute to Mirai Lakecastle, Alexander’s second and someone competent and sure-headed enough to keep it together.
The clave will have no reason to argue and Mirai abides by the same code as Alec, it’s why Magnus picks her.
That and Alexander’s trust.
His faith and confidence in his second has grown since their first meeting and Magnus trusts Alexander’s instincts and his opinion.
It’s a lot of power to sign over, especially so quickly.
Magnus could do so much with the authority Alexander gave him but he doesn’t care. Magnus has a new and widely coveted political power and clout. It’s unthinkable that he would sign it over with so little hesitation or use. Yet Magnus wants nothing more than to concentrate on tending to his love who has changed so much and yet so little.
Alexander is truly no different than he was, only that he is how he was before the wounds of his past chiseled him into the man Magnus loves.
And yet he is also the man Magnus loves, the very foundation of him and Magnus finds that he adores him desperately.
Magnus cannot lose Alexander, as long as he is by his side then Magnus is happy to love him as he is, however he is.
Which means that there is no time to waste playing clave politics when Magnus can be introducing Alexander to a thousand things his boy had forgotten he once wanted. It’s a cursed blessing, to learn so many secrets that Alexander himself only remembered by forgetting so much.
Magnus opens a small portal, just enough to send his own response back to Alyssa. Then as soon as it’s confirmed to have been received, he snaps it closed and goes to find his boy.
Alexander is outside lying on his stomach, stretched out over thick green moss and dipping his fingers into the cold shallows of the nearby brook.
There are bright flashes of color as the fish dart around his touch and the rocks and Magnus laughs, heart lifting despite the weight of this morning.
“Enjoying yourself?” He asks, kneeling next to Alexander and pressing a palm to his shoulder.
“It’s cool and the suns bright,” Alexander sends him a faint smile before looking back at the water. “I don’t remember doing things like this before.”
Magnus doubts that he has and worse, they’ve hardly had time to even think of something as simple as a picnic where this could happen.
“Should we go boating?” He asks without a second thought and Alexander gives him a pleased smile and a nod. “Wonderful darling, I’ll set up a pavilion boat,” Magnus waves a hand as he speaks, “they run on magic, lovely. Absolutely divine and much better for the environment.”
In his delight, Magnus gets absorbed in his thoughts for a moment. It’s just a moment, but it’s long enough to miss the adoring and content smile that Alexander sends him.
Or that his eyes, while still confused, are deeply pooled with indulgent devotion.
WIP Wednesday #24 - DW Crossover
Woah @impossiblekryptonitecolor wasn't kidding about that curse! Thankfully I broke it, and it only took four weeks and not a thousand and ten years!
Onto the snippet - surprise, surprise Caroline is not having a great time. Good thing she has some memories to escape into.
If it didn’t hurt so much, Caroline would give the hunter points from ingenuity.  Number 2 pencils as stakes?  That was a new one. Her hands were in agony, only second to her throat.  The droplets of vervain water that she inhaled made her feel like her esophagus was being ripped apart from the inside.  The only good thing about this whole situation was that she was safe from compulsion.
She was just glad that Mikael 2.0 didn’t seem to know that the daylight spell wasn’t tied to a specific person.  The last thing Caroline needed was for Alaric to take her ring and put it on his finger.  Then he wouldn’t need her to lure Elena to the school - he would just stake her and rush off the Gilbert house.  The man was muttering to himself as he paced back and forth in front of his desk, only stopping to check his phone before shaking his head.  Alaric stopped in front of her and took the gag out of her mouth, wincing as he dipped it into the beaker that was on the desk next to her.  He had already repeated this process 3 times in the hour that she had been here, the pain that herb caused him not deterring him in the slightest.
As the classroom’s clock ticked the seconds, the blonde used the sound to try and push away the pain.  Slowly, the memories of another time she was threatened by a very powerful person flooded her mind.
2008 - Year That Never Was
“Martha, we are up against a 900 year old alien with absolute zero regard for human life - except for a weird fixation for the Teletubbies!” Caroline shouted, while Martha tried to get her to lower her voice.
Caroline didn’t see why she should have to, the Valiant was miles away in the sky.  They had run for cover as soon as they had gotten their breath back, after slamming into the ground via vortex manipulator. The air was thick with smoke that had drifted towards them from the destruction in London.  The trees made breathing easier and hid them from the Toclafane.
“So you know who we should go to?” Caroline continued. “A 1000 year old being with no regard for human life - aside from the fact that he needs them if he wants to keep existing!”
“That’s not a good reason to approach him, Caroline,” the other woman scoffed.  The blonde tried not to snap at her friend even more than she had, most of Martha’s family was on the ship and they didn’t have the immunity that Caroline’s had.
“He’s got contacts that we could use and centuries of experience of being on the run!  He’s the monster that other monsters fear! We need Klaus,” Caroline stressed, this seemed like a no brainer, better to seek their chances with an Original Vampire than think they could take on the Master by themselves.
Caroline was also convinced that Martha wouldn’t ask him for help because Shakespeare told her not to.  Martha rubbed at her temple and worried the TARDIS key turned perception filter necklace before taking a deep breath.  She looked up, resolution in her brown eyes.
“Alright. Alright, we'll ask him for help.”
Caroline cheered.
“If,” Ugh, so close!
“If we also ask his brother for help.  After all, two Mikaelsons are better than one, right?"
Caroline groaned. Seriously?  She had to work with Elijah Mikaelson.
"Fine, but only because the fate of the world is at stake!"
Sick Day
A string of sneezes echoes around the house followed by a wet cough.
You wince at how bad he sounds today. Despite the check-up he’s had yesterday, his cough only sounds worse. You try to hurry up in the kitchen, beg the soup to finish cooking as soon as possible. When it takes too much time, you put the flame on a low heat and make your way to your shared bedroom.
You can see a mop of curly hair peeking out from under three different blankets. Even when he’s so bundled up, you can see a shiver wrack his body every now and then.
He’s not allowed to speak, he’s not allowed to sing and he has no strength to get out of bed. In short, what you have on your hands today is a big, irritable baby. You try to caress his cheek but his face only scrunches up in pain at even the smallest of touches. That’s how you know that the congestion is terrible.
When he feels the bed dip under your weight, he turns around with great effort and buries his face in your lap. His eyes are red-rimmed and the bags under them are so pronounced—it breaks your heart to see him like this. But there’s only so much you can do for him apart from sitting with him and stroking his hair.
‘Have you taken your medicine, love?’ you ask as you continue to stroke his head. It’s warm, so much warmer than it normally is that you mentally try to remember the last time you checked his temperature.
He opens the Notes App on his phone with some difficulty and starts typing.
I don’t think I can swallow anything :(
‘Matty…’ you scold gently but only because you’re worried about him. ‘Baby, you need to take them.’
Another :( is his only response.
‘How about I bring you some soup, yeah? That might ease up your throat?’
He contemplates that for a bit and then barely nods his head. It takes another two minutes for him to actually get his head off your lap but you let him be as clingy as he wants to.
You waste no time getting back to the kitchen and bringing him a bowl of steaming soup. Getting him to sit up, however, proves to be a bit of a herculean task. He tries not to put all his weight on you but you end up having to prop him up against the pillows anyway. He holds up his phone and frowns.
I feel like an invalid.
A small laugh escapes you at that. He’s managed to make you laugh even when he feels like death warmed up and he clearly looks proud about it.
‘Come on now,’ you hand him the bowl, ‘or should we pretend it’s an airplane?’
He rolls his eyes but ends up cracking a smile anyway. He even manages to finish the entire bowl of soup. But then his mood sours again when you hold up the two round pills in front of him.
‘Don’t make this into a battle of wills. You know I’ll win,’ you quickly warm him just as he’s in the middle of making a face. But in the end, he obliges.
The muscles of his throat move, trying to reject the pill but he swallows again and gulps down some more water. Then he picks up his phone again.
Will you stay?
‘Of course, I will,’ you say. In fact, you’re already getting comfy in the bed and pulling his head on your lap.
He cracks a small smile when he feels your fingers running through his hair and then mouths a “thank you”. A combination of the medicine and his exhaustion—it doesn’t take long before his breathing evens out.
Sometime in the second hour of his nap, he begins to kick off the blankets one by one. You run over a hand over his forehead, his cheek and notice that the collar of his jumper is slowly turning damp with sweat.
‘Matty,’ you shake him as gently as possible. ‘You need to wake up, love. I think your fever is breaking.’
He groans a bit but then cracks an eye open.
‘Do you think you can take a bath?’
Only if you can take one with me,
he types out. Despite the illness, you like this clingy version of him, how he wants you to be there for every little thing he does.
***
He sways a bit at first but manages to hold himself upright while you get him out of his clothes. The bath is almost full by now—you’ve made sure to add some oils in there too and now your entire bathroom smells like peppermint and eucalyptus.
The bath is big enough for the two of you but when you get in after him, he instantly scoots closer; closes his eyes as you lather shampoo on his scalp. His face is still paler than usual but he looks much more alert now. Much less ready to keel over.
The water will go cold in a bit, you know it will. For now, you just let him indulge as much as he wants to.
Demon Bride Ch35 When In Rome- Or A Demon Dimension
(Warnings!!: Mentioning of death, illnesses, suicide, killing and abandonment in Akaza's backstory. ALSO DB Akaza's backstory is changed slightly to fit the au surroundings more.)
Tumblr media
"You're really sure you can walk by yourself? You fainted for a few minutes." A blue tipped hand gently held your head, concern in those golden blue eyes. "Are you sure you don't need a doctor? Or want me to carry you? Or some water-"
"Akaza. I'm perfectly fine now. As long as you don't push me into your chest again."
"Is that it? Did I accidentally smother you making you lose air?! I'm sorry, I'm so sorry. I forget my own strength sometimes."
"You didn't squeeze the air out of me so calm down.. Although you might've smothered me a bit."
You had thankfully survived your 'death by abs' encounter Akaza gave you you, although it did take you a few minutes to recover but now you were here standing with the last remains of red fading away from your face as you dusted yourself off and took a giant breath before turning back to the one green eyed demon who never stopped smiling in that spoiled-suck up smug 'i think I'm better than you' way. His old features made him look much older than Akaza but not as old as Mr. Hantengu. He looked to be maybe in his late forties if you had to go by human years. He bowed to you again never losing that greesy smile.
"I don't believe I had a chance to introduce myself."
"No." You shook your head no. "You haven't. Who are you?"
A proud hand pressed against his chest. "I am Kakski. The head caretaker and supervisor of the Kizuki Dwell and the man who makes sure every inch of this magnificent place is run smoothly. And just let me say that it is so lovely to finally have a proper resident to care for again." He sighed in tired form. "So far our only occupant has been Mr. Hantengu but it can be rather difficult to deal with him."
You gained a surprise look. "Mr. Hantengu is here?"
"He was brought here by Lord Muzan's orders to live out the rest of his days in comfort retirement," Akaza explained making you look at him. "Only the Twelve Kizuki and their immediate family are allowed to stay here. Since there's no one to take care of him at home anymore with all his sons busy, the Master thought it was best to move the old man here for better care." His eyes narrowed. "That being said, I Hope you've been treating your elders with the proper respect."
Kakski made an audible gulp smiling nervously at the frowning Lord before him. "O-O-Of course we have. N-N-Nothing but the best for our Lords' families!"
"I should hope so. I'd hate to see what would happen if his sons or the Master found out any of the former Kizuki weren't getting the proper respect they deserved. Hmm. In fact, while I'm here I might as well see Hantengu and congratulate him on his retirement."
"N-N-Now?! Ah! I mean of course!" He bowed deeply to Akaza. "I would be delighted to escort you inside. P-Please follow me."
You blinked at Kakski turning to gesture you all inside and only started walking after Akaza went in and disappeared through the door with Rui shimmying I'm behind him. You slowly followed inside and paused. Your eyes widened. Your head shook and you blinked again at what you saw.
Oh my gods...
If Kyogai's mansion was classy and if the sanctuary at the Entertainment District was fancy then this layout beat both of them out of the running by being ABSOLUTELY HIGH CLASS ROYALTY. Everywhere your teeny eyes looked it was like they had been dipped in liquid gold and saw only a king's luxury of a home here. Tall halls polished so much it left literal long reflections of you in every wooden surface. Paintings so big they were at least three humans long and one human tall depicting the most beautiful scenes captured expertly in paint. Random furniture made of the darkest wood carved with patterns into every inch of it. Vases made of procelyn infused with jewelers. Chandeliers of pure gold. Rugs handwoven by weavers with such skill you thought they were paintings laying on the perfectly polished floors.  Your jaw dropped and eyes nearly popped out of your skull at at least ten men and women stood on each side of the hallway before bowing in perfect sink with smiles plastered on all their faces. But what shocked you the most was how beautifully dressed they all were.
The women (with all different demonic features ranging from horns to wings and everything in-between) were all dressed up in beautifully patterned silk kimonos in every bright color of the rainbow, and hair and make up done up in the skill of an Oiran. The men weren't as dolled up as the ladies but they all looked fairly strong, fit, and all wore matching silk black robes so smooth not even a wrinkle was present.
''Welcome Lord and Lady," they all spoke at once in that bow and big smiles.
You were astonished to say the least before you slowly looked back to Kakski and noticed a yellow skinned old woman of similar age stood next to him in matching clothing but still filled up like the other women. "Who are these people? Are they related to the Kizuki too?"
Kakski laughed making you frown. "Oh my Lady. You have such a sense of humor. Of course they don't live here. These fine young men and women are just a small handful of the servants who will serve you here."
Your eyes widened looking between this old couple and the other demons. "These people are servants?! ALL OF THEM?!"
"Of course! But only a handful of our staff is here. There's many others who're busy working right now."
"What exactly do these people do?" Apply make up? Gospel? Oh don't say they were all concubines of some kind!
"Oh the usual. Cook, clean, serve whomever stays here, some even clean the pools of water and feed the koi-"
"They cook and clean while dressed beautifully as if they were attending a ball?"
Kakski paused for a moment before a grateful look passed over him and he pressed a hand to his chest. "You think our staff is beautiful?! Why that's such an honor to hear from the first Lady we've had here in three thousand years!" His one eye closed in pride. "Yes. Our staff takes pride in how EVERYTHING looks perfect here. The floors, the pools, and even including ourselves. Nothing but the best FOR the best. Our looks should match our work."
"But isn't that a little unorthodox? Working in such fancy attire?"
"But of course. All of our staff are from noble family lines, it's a great honor to be able to work here so close to the Kizuki." He proudly held up a hand. "Not only that but they are all highly educated in reading, writing, maths, and human culture! So they should have no problem interacting with you."
What were you? Some kind of alien?! You supposed he meant that as some kind of comfort but it came off as more of a brag. "Who's the woman next to you?"
"This lovely woman is my beautiful wife Yoko~," Kakski purred and just stared in a loving way at the woman next to him, "She's the head maid you know.~ And gets lovelier every single day I bask in her presence.~ My daughter takes after her you know.~"
"Kakski, stop. You're embarrassing the both of us," she chided with a small push to the man's chest but she didn't stop smiling. "You're wasting their time on your rambling as well."
"Forgive me. I couldn't help but introduce them to the most beautiful woman since our first Queen.~" You didn't know whether to feel happy that this skeezy demon had at least one good thing to say about him or feel annoyed at the whole situation. "But you are right. I'm getting too distracted. I'll happily escort Lord Akaza to Former Lord Hantengu's dwelling. In the meantime I'm sure my wife would be happy to show Lady Y/n here to her room." He then bowed. "If you would please follow us."
You glanced in question at Akaza who just nodded back. "Go ahead. I'll be back to check on you in a little while."
With nothing else to do right now you'd follow this Yoko person and see what was in store for you.
"Follow me, My Lady," the older woman spoke with a bow. Her tone was less greasy but it still held that suck up element to it which made you frown as she turned and began stepping down the corridor and with a final look at Akaza you followed.
Rui followed behind toddling along with his arms full of the knick knacks you dropped. It felt very strange to you walking past the rows of men and women that still smiled at you. The strange arrangement of this place was so baffling to you and you just stepped in here. They had noblemen and women as servants to other noblemen and women. It was so strange to you but you supposed this was more of that cultural difference between humans and demons. You only began to see more royal like halls littering  ever direction you took and it ...
You turned your nose up at all of it.
What was the literal point of all of this? The fancy things that sparkled and shined were only just that, things to be looked at and admired. It held no real value unless you sold it and made money for use. What was wrong with just a small house in the country side, maybe a small garden, with just maybe a few animals to keep you company. Maybe you'd even settle down and have a small family of your own once you're done traveling and seeing everything you wanted too see. Of course you'd have to figure out what to do about this entire demon fiance situation.... You'd ask to talk with that Muzan guy and his wife. If you spoke to him about your feelings he'd have to call the whole thing off, and with his wife there he wouldn't be able to get around the topic.
...Hmm. You wondered how exactly you could call off all of these engagements? You could probably return these 'gifts' back to everyone and tell them no but there was a few problems with that plan. The first being that even IF you told them you didn't want to be married or courted that might not stop them from trying anyways. You remembered when you were very blunt and honest with Kaigaku and he still insisted on making you wear the magatama charm as a courting gift and still refused to let you go easily. On top of that both Kyogai and Akaza gave you gifts too despite agreeing to not wanting to court you either. Perhaps if you just spoke to Muzan's wife? She seemed like a very sensible person . You were sure she'd be able to straighten things out. The question was how were you going to get her attention?
"Oof!" You bumped right into Yoko when she stopped and Rui bumped right behind you blinking.
She only smiled at you. "We're here, Lady Y/n." She gestured to the shiny polished sliding door. "Won't you please come in? We've been preparing it for days hearing about your arrival days ago."
"Oh, swell," you mumbled deadpanned.
Still Yoko smiled at you grabbing the door. "Don't worry. We've ensured that the room was nothing but comfortable with you in mind. Come." With that she slid the door right open.
You stared. Rui stared peeking around your legs. Yoko smiled proudly at herself.
.....What the hell was THIS?!
You face dropped as the first thing you saw was a giant vanity complete with a giant mirror and stacked with make up and at least eight different perfume bottles. Instantly you felt yourself groan and cringing at just the memory of that stuff caking your face. Next to that was an extremely lacy pink colored futon and surrounding the room around those two things were just..well...Hmm. What was the best way to describe all this??
Overly exaggeratedly girly.
Seriously?! How could one room have ten vases of flowers, such frilly decor, and enough bright colors to outshine a rainbow?! You could only stare at it before furrowing your brow and you couldn't help but think that this room would be better fitted for someone like Mitsuri or that Oiran you saw.
".....You must have the wrong room. There's no way THIS is mine."
"Oh but believe me it is!," Yoko insisted walking inside, "I understand you must not be used to such things. Here you have everything a young lady of your status could ever need! The bathroom is just through that door there." She gestured to a door on the opposite side of the wall. "Ooh. And here we have my favorite part of any ladies room." She excited cooed before just walking over to another door and pulling it back to reveal clothing. LOTS OF CLOTHING. So much it looked like it would spill out of the closet at any moment. "We didn't know your exact size so we just gathered various things but there's so much for you to chose from. So many gorgeous shoes and dresses to chose from."
You stared. War flashbacks of being squeezed into too tight shoes so tight they literally hurt when you even stood and forced into so many layers of clothing you felt like you were inside a volcano and make up so sticky that your face felt like it was clay clung onto your face and your hair pinned up so tight it hurt your scalp passed through your mind.  And your eyes widened.
"So what do you think? It's absolutely delightful isn't it?"
"........I need a major change in rooms. NOW."
And that's how you were taken to a much LESS eyesore of a room and was fitted with still fancy but less of a nightmarish eyesore. It was about as fancy as the room you stayed in at the red light district  but that was ok. Currently you were quite content with the room which just so happened to have a connecting room for Rui to have his own space. Although right now he chose to lean against your back sitting down and reading a book in his hands.
"I don't understand. I've never seen a woman who turned down every luxury she could ever want so fast." You paid no mind to the demon staring unbelieving at you. "Denying yourself of so much."
"I prefer simple clothes like the one I'm wearing right now. Not to say I don't appreciate all your hard work, but I just prefer things my own style," you explained calmly. The small pile of 'gifts' right beside you. You'd even taken off the sash and necklaces tied around you added to the pile. "Also I don't need or even want servants to dress me up in the morning. Im more than capable of doing that myself."
"But-"
"No butts. Butts are for sitting on." You sent a frown her way. "Do you even know how disturbing it is to sleep and then wake up to a total stranger in your room? Furthermore do you know how much creepier it is for that stranger to try to bath you and dress you up like you're a doll?" You gave a shudder. "Im a grown woman and I can take care of those things myself." Rui tapped you on the back and you gave him a look as well. "..And I didn't want anyone invading Rui's privacy as well. He can look after himself mostly and I'm going to be right here if he needs anything else."
Yoko slapped a hand to her cheek. "You don't want ANY servants?"
"Well.... I'll still need someone to clean our rooms and bring us food but that's all we'll need you all to do." You waved a hand at her. "If I need anything else I'll ask someone for it."
Yoko looked about ready to faint but was stopped when loud footsteps approached the open door and a moment later a large figure appeared. "You've only been here for a few hours and already you're causing such a stir up." Yoko jumped and everyone turned to Akaza standing in the doorway looking amused. "The servants are already in shock at your refusal of so many gifts."
"Akaza!" "Father!"
Rui was first to respond to the tall demon by standing up and running up to the grinning man, grabbing at and tugging his pants leg. "I have an entire room to myself. We can share the space so Mother can have her own courters."
It made Akaza chuckle and pat his head. "That's nice of you to offer but I can't stay for long. I'll have to go take care of some of Kokushibo's duties since he'll be extra busy. That'll be all you can leave us now." Yoko only nodded before walking away.
"How's Mr. Hantengu?"
Akaza nodded. "He's doing just fine. They're treating him well enough, although he keeps asking for his children. *sigh* What a mess everything is. It'll take a while to clean everything up."
"Is it that bad?"
"No. Worse." He counted on his fingers. "There's the rebuilding of the Tsuzumi Mansion, AND we have to clear out all the trees in the Yokai Forest that was destroyed in the fight between those assholes and Kaigaku. And then once all the dead trees ARE cleared we have to replant new ones to replace the damaged ones. Then there's the matter of the responsibilities."
"What responsibilities?"
He groaned allowing his shoulders to drop. "Kokushibo will be too busy with everything else for his regular duties, so until he's able to finish it, I'll be responsible for all of the things he'd usually do. Which means I won't be around to help you for a long while."
Your face dropped at this and so did Rui's. "What? That's not fair!"
He shrugged. "It's the way of the Kizuki, but that's not the reason why I'm here. May I come in and talk to you?" Oh right. Akaza wouldn't come into any women's room without direct permission. That's why he still stood outside the doorway. So you nodded and he stepped in, tail sliding the door behind him. "Thank you. I understand if this is very sudden. B-But I wanted to make my intentions clear." You only watched as he kneeled to sit on his knees in front of you. Rui patted along, looked over Akaza.... before sitting in the same position Akaza did. He noticed the pile of 'gifts' right next to him, plucking out the pink beaded anklet of his he gifted you as a necklace. "I see you've seen my gift.  ...What do you think of it?"
You blinked glancing at his legs to notice the missing anklet from his right leg. "...I think it's very beautiful and very nice of you to give to me, but I thought we agreed that I didn't really ask you to marry me and it was all a misunderstanding.''
"We did agree on that, and I know you really didn't ask me to marry you at all."
"Then why did you give me your anklet? Was it just to make the others back away?"
"Well...I did do that as a way to protect Rui and yourself, but there's another reason for it." You jumped  and your eyes widened as his hand gently grabbed one of yours and a sheen of pink spread across his face. "The second reason is because....I-I love you, Y/n. I love you, and I've never felt this way since Koyuki."
"Koyuki?" What was 'Koyuki'? Was that a name? Who's name was that? "Who's Koyuki?"
"She is my ex fiance." Your eyes widened and blinked surprised at him. "There's no need to worry. She's....been deceased for quite some time now." Golden blue eyes looked towards the side and his ears dropped at the mention of her and the increased squeeze of your hand had you knowing he tensed up some. "... That's..what I wanted you to know."
"Akaza...I'm so sorry." Your hand squeezed his back and you leaned your head to the right to try to look at his face but that only resulted in him squeezing his eyes shut. "What happened?' He was eerily quiet and didn't move to which you grew more concerned. Perhaps it was too touchy a subject. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have asked. You don't have to tell me anything."
He still remained quiet but slowly spoke. "If...I tell you-" he still didn't look up or open his eyes, but gave a shaky exhale that shook his entire body. "... I'll have to reveal a part of myself to you that would scare you away...and...I don't want to lose someone else important to me."
"I can handle it,  and I promise I won't judge you for anything, Akaza. I always keep my promises but that choice is completely up to you. I won't force you to tell me anything unless you want to."
He still remained silent and just sat there for a moment. "....I wasn't meant to be a demon."
You blinked. "What?"
"I wasn't meant to be human. My mother was demon, but my father...was a human." He finally opened his eyes and looked at your confused eyes. "Heh..Of course you would be confused. Let me explain. Demons and humans are never meant to have children together. Whenever they do have a child together it always results in human children. Only one percent of those children are actually born demon....I guess I'm a part of that percent."
Well you were surprised by that biology lesson. Did Akaza feel guilty about being born the way he was?
"My mother passed away long before I could even walk as an infant," he continued making you jump back to  him, "But...I don't really remember my father taking care of me." His brows furrowed in a way that made him look like he tried to remember something that wasn't there. "For as long as I could remember it had always been me taking care of him. ...Maybe that's why I can't remember any childhood."
"Was he very old?"
He jolted blinking at what you said. "Huh? Oh..N-No. It was actually the opposite of that. He was...always very sick. I couldn't always afford the medicine he desperately needed. Too many people and not enough money to go around... That's how I got myself in so much trouble. In order to get any medicine for him I had resorted myself to stealing. Which ... wasn't a good idea in hindsight." A free hand rubbed his neck ashamed. "A demon child stealing didn't really help with my reputation of looking monstrous...I must've shamed my father so much thinking back on it."
"Oh, Akaza. I don't think he would've. I can't say that what you did was a good thing, but it was the only way you could get what your father needed. I don't think any father would be ashamed of their son trying to help him."
"Maybe. Maybe not. I don't know... Maybe it was too much stress for him. Maybe he couldn't take being sick anymore. Maybe I did shame him too much. But, for whatever reason, he took his own life." You leaned back a bit wide eyed as Akaza once again looked down at his lap guiltily. "I'm... ashamed of what I became after that. You see..If they didn't think I was monster before,  they sure did after. In my rage and grief my stupid younger self picked many fights, I nearly killed many people, it was only when Koyuki's father stopped me did my senseless rage end."
Rui felt himself getting tired and his eyes closing. It's been a long day for him and it was getting harder and harder for him to stay awake.
"Is that...how you met her?"
He slowly nodded before giving a sad chuckle. "It's really funny now looking back on that moment. I must've looked absolutely scary to everyone being a demon and fighting everyone left and right. Then this cheery man comes along all smiles and takes me down in under ten minutes. I'd give anything to see my younger me's dumb face in that moment. He's... actually the one who took me in and gave me a job, and a home, and what purpose I could have. And..." You watched him immediately blush and look away embarrassed. "Gods...I wished you could've met her. She was so .. beautiful. She was the kindest, softest woman I've ever met. She didn't even seem to mind my appearance...AH!! STUPID!!" He slapped himself making you blink and Rui sit up again blinking sleepily. "Here I am wanting to court you and I speak of another woman! How shameful of me."
You blinked...then you giggled at his obvious blushing face making him flush a deeper pink. "Not at all. I think you're really cute when you talk about your family. I really like Koyuki already." You smiled wider. "She sounds like such a beautiful woman. No wonder you fell in love with her."
Your words only turned the deeper pink to a shade of red before he swallowed and frowned again. "Yes...From there he trained me as his own and, for a while, life was...better. Not perfect but better. You see...Koyuki much like my father was very sick for most of her life, but I never once complained. She was worth the effort I soon found out. I had everything a man could want. It was actually Koyuki's father who had the idea of engaging us and passing on his dojo to me once he retired.....I never should've left them alone."
That grim look of his was back and your smile slowly faded. "...Akaza?"
"...They were poisoned. Murdered." His free hand cracked the bones inside as a fist formed and veins popped up all along his arms. A hiss escaped his throat as his his fangs grit together. "I HATE them. I still hate every single one of them. They took them both away from me."
"Them? Them who?"
"A rival dojo at the time. They were the ones who poisoned the water supply. T-That's how they took her from me." The grip tightened up as he tensed up more. The chest rising up and down faster with slightly heavier breaths. "Everything I ever had...all of it was just...gone."  Don't cry don't cry don't cry. "And I killed them. One by one. They dropped like flies. All of them. I made them suffer for everything they did. If the innocent couldn't have life then neither could they. I killed them!....I-I....killed them..." Fluffy pink lashes welding up with tears looked at your stunned face. "....I killed them...Y/n... I'm a murderer and I..I don't think I could hide that from you." His chest heaved. A small little figure snored happily away pressed into his soft side. It's his fault that the kid was here. "...It's my fault. All of it..and it's my fault he's here. It's my fault he's fatherless." A free hand reached up to cover his eyes. "I killed him."
"Who?"
He choked. "Rui's Father. Im responsible for his death." A sob finally choked from his throat. "I-....I have nothing to say that would make that fact ok."
Purple eyes widened. "Akaza."
"I know..I shouldn't cry-"
"What? No!" He was surprised by the strength that freed your hand from his but .ore shocked at the hands that grabbed his cheeks. You had to stand in order to look him in the eyes with a stern look. "You should be able to cry. You went through so much heartbreak and got so much stress built up on your shoulders already. Who wouldn't cry if they lost so many people you loved? I would be concerned if you didn't cry."
Shiny tears clung to that pretty pale skin as he stared at you. Fluffy eyelashes almost losing  their fluffiness from the water. "I'm a..man... we're not supposed to-"
"Bullshit! Crying doesn't make you less of a man. People cry for all kinds of reasons. Some people get so stressed out or frustrated they cry. Some people cry because they're so scared they can't help it. Others cry in anger or when they get something in their eyes. Some people can cry crocodile tears even." He nearly sobbed as a thumb wiped away one tear coming from his eyes. "But a lot of times... People cry when they're sad or heartbroken. And why shouldn't they? It's healthy and good to cry every so often. For men and women. And you know what...I like you when you cry." He blinked as another hand wiped as his cheek. "I like you when you smile too. Or when you get angry. Or flustered. Or when you're sad. Showing so much makes you so strong. So don't be afraid to cry, especially for someone you loved to much. I would NEVER think of you as anything less than who you really are for that." You made to clarify firmly. "I love that about you. I love you for you. So go ahead and cry."
At first he didn't react...just sat there on his knees looking up at you for a moment before his lips quivered and eyes crinkled up. Leaning forward, the Upper Moon Three pushed his face into the green cloth of a kimono, two arms wrapped around the torso of the woman in front of him. And the muffled sobs of the demon echoed throughout the room from Akaza's heaving lungs. Two smaller hands soothed the crying running  along his hair and upper back. It could be a small gesture but to him..it meant so much. Slowly minute after minute passed and slowly, slowly things calmed down. The heaving stopped. The sobs stopped. The tears even stopped. But the grip on her like a lifeline remained. Until the head looked back up as two soft hands placed themselves back on those cheeks.
"Y/n.."
A face closed in. Purple eyes widened in shock. And a small seal of love was proven. And a promise was mumbled from his  kiss.
"I promise you I will protect you. I will be the best father I can be for Rui." Golden blue eyes narrowed. His hug increasing slightly. "And I promise you...I don't plan on losing more people I love so easily.''
-ˋˏ S H Y ˎˊ —> Chapter 2
Characters: Quorch, Lyle, Z-Dog, Mansk, Sir Jameson (hes a cat), little bit of General Ardmore.
Warnings: Fluff! Lots! Cute recoms with a kitty! General A is a bitch as per usual. Angst if you squint.
Chapter 1, Chapter 2 (You’re here!)
◇─◇──◇─────◇──◇─◇
“How am I supposed to know cats like to eat?? I’ve never had a cat before and he’s just a lil guys why can he just eat some rice or sumthin.” Z-Dog rolled her eyes at Lyle.
“Oh my god it isn’t that hard to maybe fry up some fish or maybe some sort of unseasoned meat? Move I need to check on the sink.” She said, shoving him aside. He raised his hands in surrender, eyes widened.
“Yes ma’am.”
She was running a small bath for the black kitty in the sink, while she waited for him and Quaritch to get acquainted. She smiled at the thought of how the kitty snuggled into her chest while she carried him, surprised that he didn’t bite or scratch her.
“Mansk!” She called, dipping her finger in the lukewarm water filling the sink. Mansk say up from where he was laying in the floor.
“Yes’m?” He asked, obviously having almost falling asleep.
She sighed as she looked at him, his shirt hair somehow messed up and his sunglasses crooked. “Can you make the cat a bed?” He smiled as his tail started wagging in excitement.
“Oh my god yes I can I have some stuff that I can use I’ll be right back-“ he said, starting to run to his room when he ran into Lyle, who was holding many fruits in his hands, trying desperately to figure out what to feed him.
“Oh my god you two are useless.” She said exasperated. “Alright the waters warm enough for lil man. I’ll go get him. You two,” she said glaring at the two on the floor. “Do something useful. Or else I’ll tattoo your foreheads.”
All she heard while she walked down the hall was hushed whispers and gasps.
“I see you two had fun while I was gone.”
◇─◇──◇─────◇──◇─◇
Sir Jameson was pleased to have a name.
He smiled in that silly way that cats do as he trailed behind Z-Dog, his little tail wagging.
“Awww, guys look he’s happy!” She smiled, poking Lyle in the shoulder.
“I’m so glad we came up with that name. See! We did something useful!” He said proudly, his tail wagging with pride. It caught the kitties attention, seeing the black tuft of fur at the end of his tail move around he couldn’t help but jump at it.
He may have also latched onto it with his teeth and teeny claws.
“OH MY FUCK-“ yelled out Lyle, causing Mansk and Z-Dog to fall down with laughter.
He head heavy footsteps from behind them all, and a light snicker.
“Y’all should know better. He’s so small YALL could have smushed him.” Said Quaritch.
“S-sorry boss.” Mansk wheezed, still shaking with laughter.
“HE BIT MY TAIL” cried Lyle, simply shook.
“Stop waggin it then.” He said, picking up Sir Jameson.
“Cmon, let’s get you clean huh?” Z-Dog wiped tears from her eyes then reached for the lil kitty, Quaritch handing him over to her.
“Go wash your hands.” She nodded to him, dirt covering his hands. “Sir Jameson here hasn’t had a bath in a really long time, haven’t you lip guy? Oh that’s right, you haven’t-“
“Can you stop with the baby talk.” Asked Lyle. She stared at him point blank.
“Nope absolutely not he is my little fellow, my sweet summer child. Look at him he is smaller than an actual baby he’s perfect for baby talk.”
“When he gets older he’s gonna stare at you the way you glare at me.”
“You are one-hundred percent wrong. He is a sweet lil man he won’t betray us that way.”
“Shit up and give the lil stinker a bath already.” He rolled his eyes at her.
“You shut up and make him some damn food.” She turned away from them all, her tail swishing behind her as she sauntered away. She held him outwards, with his face towards her as she spoke gently to him.
“You gonna be a brave man for me? The water ain’t to hot but I’m not sure if you’ll like it. You can scratch me if it’s too hot okay?”
Then she lowered him into the sink, his little body scrunching when he touched the water.
It was warm. He missed warm.
But he wasn’t used to it.
His little body was shaking at the amount of effort it took for him to keep his little legs and tail scrunched.
“Hey, hey it’s okay, it’s just water. It won’t hurt you okay? Nothing is gonna hurt you.” Said Z-Dog, petting his head with one of her fingers. He was that tiny compared to the recoms.
He looked at her face as she smiled a little, and he decided that it must be okay to just touch it a little. They didn’t throw him yet so maybe this means that they were gonna keep him forever.
He dipped his little paws in the water, and he hadn’t felt such relief for a while. It relaxed him, and made all his muscles go all soft and relaxed.
He really liked it.
Then he sat down in the water. He ducked his little head into the water, warming his whole body. He closed his eyes and meowed happily at Z-Dog, as she had his little face held in her hand, as she gently lathered soap into his matted fur, massaging out all the dirt.
Quaritch leaned over to look at the kitty, peering over her shoulder. “Lil man was real dirty. Poor guy. Knock on my door when you’re done, I’ll have a lil present for him.
She nodded, not saying a word, only smiling at the little kitty.
“You really needed this didnt you Sir Jameson?”
He purred.
When he was all clean, and wrapped into a little tea-towel (he was too small for a regular towel, especially since their towels were really big because of their size) she carried him to Quaritchs room, and softly knocked.
“Yup?” He called from inside.
“Open up, kitty’s all clean.” They both heard his heavy footsteps coming towards the door.
“Ta-da!” He smiled opening the door. There were old shirts that lay ripped up on his bed, torn to scraps, and bandages all over his blue fingers. Sewing supplies lay all over the room, a small box overflowing with hidden supplies.
Z-Dog smiled. “You made him a lil blanky?” Both their ears perked up at the excited little meow he let out.
“Yeah, figured if he’s gonna stay he needed some little comfort.”
“I FINISHED HIS BED!” Said Mansk, carrying one of his hats towards them, filled with an old T-shirt full of cotton balls.
“It isn’t much but I figured he would like it.” He shrugged, holding out the hat.
“I think he likes it.” Said Z-Dog smiling down it him, wagging her finger in his face for little scratchies.
He licked her finger.
“Where will he sleep?”
“I guess we just let him choose that himself. Let him wander around, take a look. Leave all your doors open, see which one he really likes.”
They found him sleeping on Quaritchs pillow.
So they put a little hand warmer in the cotton filling, grabbed him and gently placed him in the hat, then covered him with the patch-blanket Quaritch made him.
He felt warm.
FFXIV Write 2024 #9 - Lend an Ear
Summary: Beau allows herself to speak freely about something she's been planning. Content warning: Vague mentions of suicidal ideation.
Spoilers: Shadowbringer
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Can you keep a secret?” Ar'beunti asks, looking out the window of her room, watching the night sky of the Crystarium.
“Not as though there are any I could share this with if I wanted to,” Ardbert replies with a smile, his ghostly aura ever reminding him of his current state. Beau looks at her nested hands as she leans against the window frame.
“I mean don't tell Lehon'a about this.”
“Ah. I see.” Arbert walks from the centre of the room and joins Beau at the window. “I shall keep this between us then. She will never hear the words from me.” Beau looks unconvinced. “I swear.”
Beau wrings her hands, her blood runs cold at the thought of bringing these thoughts to words.
“The light inside me- inside me and Lehon'a. It's going to kill us.” Ardbert dips his head.
“You know that to be true?”
“I have to. Because if I don't… I wouldn't be able to prepare myself for what I have to do.”
“...better to plan for the worst then, is it?” The two watch the moon for a moment. “So what is this you’re preparing for, then?” Beau tenses. She sits in thought for a while.
“I've… I've never been able to picture what I might do when everything is done… what the First and the Source look like if we save them, and my place in it.” Beau's eyes begin to water. “It's terrifying. I've been running from peaceful living for a long time. It'd drive me mad to slow down. That's just not me. I wouldn't be living.”
“Do you plan to do something bad? Keep the conflict brewing?” Ardbert prods, knowing the answer to his question already. Beau shoots an angry look at Ardbert.
“No!” Beau cries, her tears momentarily halting as anger takes its turn. “I want the world- our worlds safe.” Her anger mellows. “I’m tired of the hurt out there… I will fight for a world that's at peace… but there's nothing for me in a world like that…” Beau's hands turn into fists. “I might as well do something good on my way out.”
“Your way out? What are you planning to do?” Ardbert's attention is totally captured by Beau.
“The light in me, I can feel it burning… and I can feel it in Lehon'a too. I feel like if I focused, I could pull it from her and into me.”
“That would all but assure you'd become a Lightwarden, Ar'beunti,” Ardbert scolds, crossing his arms. Beau just looks out the window.
“Better one Lightwarden than two,” Beau tries to say light heartedly, but fails. She dips her head. “And of the two Warriors of Light or Darkness or whatever, better her to keep going than me.”
“Well…” Ardbert turns around and leans back into the window railing. “I regret swearing to secrecy already.”
“If you tell her…” Bea threatens. Ardbert raises his hands.
“I won't!” He goes back to crossing his arms. “But you should.”
“Absolutely not.”
“Why not? Afraid you might have to acknowledge that people care for you? That they'll want to help?”
“I don't need them worrying over me. If you had to choose between watching two people die or just one, what would you pick? Seems like simple math to me.”
“Why tell me this?” Ardbert watches Beau, waiting for her answer.
“This idea has been burning in me for a while, just like the light. I suppose I needed to let some of this out into the air.”
“So, not looking for advice then?”
“Just an ear.”
“Just an ear. I see.” Ardbert ponders for a while, looking out to the Crystarium. “I guess I'm taking the role of my Seto for you.”
“Hm?”
“Ah, nothing. Just reminiscing.” He looks back at Beau. “You say a while. Should I take that to mean you've stewed on this long before the Lightwardens? The First, even?” Beau doesn't answer. “I see… A fine line between bravery and stupidity when putting one's life on the line.”
“Not looking for advice, Ardbert,” Beau reminds him.
“Just making an observation.”
The two stand in silence for some time, taking in the night sky. Beau takes a deep breath and looks to Ardbert, only to see he has vanished. Beau lays a hand on the railing to think a moment before walking toward her bed. She couldn't tell if she felt any better getting the words off her chest, but she felt all the more determined that when the time came, she would save her fellow Warrior of Darkness. Her friend. Her sister.
After all, it wasn't like anyone else was thinking of a way to save the day.
